What Motivates YOU to Continue Playing?

Im stuck at a crossroad, I just decided to not post the two paragraph long post I had just made talking about how I'm not doing any good in solo que ranked. So now I'm changing it to the fact that I don't know if I want to play league any more. I really like gaming, and league has been really fun to play and I like watching those video's of the big conventions and stuff because Its nice to know so many people share a similar interest. However, im getting to the point where I carry most of my normals matches and its not very challenging, either someone on my team feeds and their team stomps us, or someone on our team gets fed and we stomp them. Its never really a challenge where the score is always tied, and each team is equally good at team fights. So I decided to go into ranked....and that concept just gets even more extreme and people get even more fed. So im debating on quitting league, I can't find anyone fun to play with because either they are a high elo and get really salty about every mistake and then never play with you again, or they are really low elo and blame everyone except their self. I rarley find people that are just fun to play with, if I did, I would just play normals and forget about ranked, but since im constantly in solo que then ranked SEEMED like a better use of my time (boy was I wrong). I'd like to know some reasons why everyone else plays league and if you've ever fallen into this hole before where you were thinking about quitting, and if you have, what dug you out?

To put it simply; friends. Every game grows old eventually, but the only thing that keeps me playing after that time comes is the people I play with.

I've never much cared about winning or losing so much as I have about the quality of the gameplay, which honestly has been steadily going downhill.

Non team premades have always had a massively destabilizing effect on the game, and were most prevalent in normal/draft mode where people liked to practice for ranked and ranked team games when their full roster wasn't available. The matches were always lopsided and really took away from the game.

For me, I took about a two year break from League, so its still largely a novelty, relearning the game and champions, etc. Assuming DQ stays as is I doubt will play through the season. Like I imagine many others, I can have some fun in League but I don't see it as a stable environment, and am wary of where its trying to go

The good games are fun. But even for a good player, who looks to help team win however he can, these are becoming increasingly rare. Ranks are distorted and the meta is far too strict.

Tristana and trying to become always better when playing her. Always learning, always improving, never being contempt with my current level.

What motivates me to keep playing is the fact that the only games that have come anywhere close to being as fun as League is Call of Duty, and I'm talking about MW3 and before. League has been the greatest game I've ever played for nearly a year now, and I've shown my respect and love for the game by getting good at it. I've achieved platinum and it's been fun getting here and it's fun playing here. Honestly if the thing making you not want to play is ranked, then you should focus on improving. I got placed Silver IV last season when I started and ended Silver V. I wanted to climb higher, so I put in the time and effort to get better, rather than climb. Now I'm Plat IV, which is higher than my friends that started in seasons 3 and 4. If you aren't sure about playing anymore because you can't climb, then don't play anymore. Otherwise, play for fun and play to improve. :D

Bard.

That's my reason. I love Bard. I want to be the best Bard player I can be, I want to learn every nuance of his Ult and how to use it flawlessly, I want to learn every portal location and which ones are the best, I want to be able to land flawless stuns at every point in the game. I don't care about dynamic queue, I don't care about assassins or assassins building tank items. In my mind Bard, as a champion, is so powerful that with proper application of his abilities and game knowledge he can overcome any challenge.

I enjoy playing with friends, but do not play ranked with them as I am too high Elo to queue with them. Everything other players bitch and complain about is just another obstacle for me to figure out a way around, or to portal through. Change and adversity is part of life, and clinging to nostalgia is pointless, I can appreciate that many players are past their breaking point in League and are unable to adapt to a game that is constantly evolving, I am not.

Bard is love, Bard is life.

I want to be the best Teemo player.

I got a LONG way to go, i get shitted on constantly, but mostly from my own teammates simply cause its Teemo , i love the champ, the kit, can build anything on him, and i love how people hate him, just its kinda.. rough. Trying to play, even if you do good, people will still bash you, and blame their 0-5 on you, even when you, or your enemy laner, didnt even roam to their lane, effecting it in anyway.

I like the comments, and I agree with them too. Trying to master a champion can certainly keep you playing. Also having friends to play with can be very fun. As far as ranked goes, everything I've read says that solo que ranked has become nearly impossible with the new dynamic que. I know some people are going to say "if your good enough, you will rise in rank" but sadly that just isn't true. Yes if your good you can defiantly help your team win, however, there are teams that just cannot be carried, so if you like to play the game solo que and you want to try to get into ranked, its nearly impossible, if you are an average player who goes like 8/3 during a match, that just isn't good enough unless the rest of your team doesn't feed at all. To truly carry a game your score better be close to 17/3 and you better be playing zed or yasuo

I've met people who I like playing with and most games I've tried don't have anything like Sion.

i'd say what keeps me playing as much as i do is because i have a goal to reach master division as a Yasuo one trick pony. besides that though? playing with friends is tons of fun.

also, it is true that if you're good enough you will rise in rank. i played mostly solo, and got from low silver to plat2 in 1 month, or about 150 games.

you might say that you lose all the time because of your teammates, but think of it like this, 30% of the games you will lose no matter what. 30% of the games you will win no matter what. the remaining 40% depends on your decisions and how well YOU play. and no, i didn't come up with that myself. i don't remember who said that but i do remember it from somewhere.

Because I'm unhealthily obsessed with what other people think of me, so I refuse to let my account be Silver V forever. Considering I was Silver II last season, I'm confident that I can get to Gold if I try. But I'm too afraid of 4-man pre-mades in Dynamic Queue to even touch Ranked.

Yep, so played two matches today, apparently you can get away with playing swain top and carrying the match, uninstalled this piece of shit game and I'm never looking back. Good by forever corrupt fucking toxic game.

I play once a week if I'm lucky and the thought that helps me is that I can actually play riven top again without being a handicap for my team because she's not a tank. I loved playing her every game but now why bother using any mechanics when maokai and Ekko exist.

Nothing at all, in fact taking a week off has left me stress free and relaxed, why bother getting irritated for nothing?
