If you get essence with IP, noone will buy skins. You are playing a free game...

Blue essence is for champions orange essence is for skins. Buying champ shards with IP is fine since you can only get blue essence from them and you can buy champs with IP anyway.

Except that still takes profit away from Riot because you can already buy Champs with RP. It means that gaining Essence will have to be somewhat expensive, because making it easier to get Essence for a certain IP price than it is to get RP for a certain RP price means much less people will use RP for Champs. Unless they plan on getting rid of RP prices for Champs and forcing you to use Essence, I really doubt you'll be able to get Essence with IP.

Supposedly next patch. Judging by previous patch schedules, it should be out in a few weeks.

It should be out in a couple days.

I'm not seeing it listed anywhere that it is. Nothing on RiotSocrates twitter, Surrenderat20.net, or the PBE forums themselves. I'd appreciate a link to where you found that information.

Patches are every two weeks except during the holidays usually. 6.10 went live on 18 May 2016. 6.11 should be live on Wednesday morning. There haven't been any PBE updates this week which means this patch cycle has winded down.

Makes sense. I've been so used to answering this question I lost track of when the last update released. I'll keep an eye out on Surrender@20. They usually show the pre-release patch notes in advance. If your estimate is correct, the notes should be up tomorrow.
