So, does anyone else agree that Shen's Q and W could use a rework in the future?

They could just do what they did with Vladimir. Give him a new animation or two for his new Q and W, and make it a brand new ability.

Because his current Q and W in my opinion, ruin the experience as Shen for me. W is on too long of a cooldown to be useful at all for the SUPER short duration it last. Q is too situational and requires you in lane to basically always land a taunt for it to be useful at all in lane, or for you to set up your Q in lane (which is difficult and super obvious after seeing it once) for it to cut through your opponent. The moment they see Shen's hand reach out to call his sword back, it's obvious what's happening and they most of the time will know to move out of the way. I say, just make his Q a skill shot as most people who played Shen have suggested. A 2 part skill shot. One part: Toss it forward with a new throwing animation, it will then just float in the air. The first cast here does damage based on your AD. The 2nd cast calls it back, giving Shen 3 empowered auto attacks. If it hits an opponent they're slowed and Shen's empowered autos are stronger like it is on live. This would make him still have counter play (avoiding the blade, avoiding being between the blade and Shen himself when he calls it back.) And make him have a less risky Q in top lane skirmishes.

W could be a sort of Ionian ninja spell that causes him to make a hand sign towards the enemy that your cursor is hovering over, marking the enemy, when this enemy is hit 3 times with the mark on them, an explosion goes off, doing AoE damage to any nearby enemies and enemy minions. This would be similar to how Ninja's use exploding talisman attached to their Kunai knives and would give Shen not only better jungling, but also a form of wave clear / farming. Something he lacks right now. Hell, the W explosion could even work on structures if there is one nearby. Or even the Q empowered auto attacks.. because Shen does about 30 or 45ish damage per auto to turrets, and has a very slow auto attack animation. Shen has some of the slowest turret destruction in the game at the moment, which is pretty sad to see.

We just need a Shen rework once more to his Q and W, because the current W and Q just... aren't there yet. Not hitting home, a Rioter has said themselves that the "spiritual sword" rework was not good. So, hopefully we get something better at least in the future, this is in my opinion the worst Rework of all of the ones in the past year.

STOP SUGGESTING REWORKS FOR CHAMPS THAT AREN'T FUCKING BROKEN

As a person who's played shen like crazy both before and after the rework. I don't want to see a rework completely screw him up.

Seriously, he's fine as is, fun, and extremely viable... his kit works great as it is. One of the few good reworks on a long list of bad ones... So why would you want to risk all of that just so Riot can "thematically hit the damn mark".

Just fucking stop.

His Q isn't terribly bad as it is (though I prefer the old one as it had better utility) however his W in my opinion is godawful. its duration is REALLY short, it's on a long cooldown, and the effect is completely dependent on the sword's location. While I can appreciate the fact that Q recalls the spirit blade to shen's location, in a teamfight situation or perhaps a roam, I would in a LOT of situations and circumstances prefer the W zone to be on top of someone squishy, like the marksman or most mages/mids so they can avoid damage from autos. It's not always easy or feasible to position yourself as shen to have the W land right where your squishies are since you will usually be near the front to use your "tankiness" (because shen's tank role got shat on by riot as they made him a "fighter" now... or something) so you can soak up damage and catch people with your E taunt.

His Q is ok, its a fairly low cd and can regen energy which I appreciate on an energy champ, especially since you have to very literally spam Q to do your damage and reposition your sword as it is the core of his kit now. I, however, as shen, don't really care for damage as much as I care about just annoying the piss out of the enemy champ/team as they get their "noooooooooooooope" face on whenever I get close to them because I can dash in to taunt, tank, and just be annoying overall. I prefer making it not easy for them to kill me over doing this weird % max hp 3-hit skill spam damage and almost negligible auto-atk dodge W and his hp shield new passive that honestly can really go off at the wrong time and go on cooldown just because you might have used Q to farm a lane or used W to dodge...but if you're using W to dodge then why the heck do you need a shield honestly.

only few times i've used W effectively with a teammate is if I ult to them which puts my sword literally right on them for me to W on.... but then when I use my Q to get my damage on the zone moves to me....... It feels like the kit really was not completely thought out and they just put in ideas that sounded cool on paper.

It certainly feels like your Q is against you more often than not, no matter how many times I spam new Shen :/

After reading through the original two posts... it has been made abundantly clear that these two simply don't even understand how to play Shen. Which is actually why they're calling for "rework pls".

Q's "only" function in lane (or elsewhere for that matter) isnt to "always land the speed buff/slow". It's a damage steroid, which pops your passive shield giving you sustain, excellent trading capability (against a great deal of top lane champions). You don't even need to taunt to use it... derp. Gives you better farming (particularly under turret) and pushing capability as well. Which is what he is... a split pusher, not a lane bully who's supposed to get lolkills (but still can).

Yes it has a great added benefit of slowing the enemy and attack speed buffing you, which is usually already done easily by PAYING ATTENTION TO WHERE HE WALKS, not simply taunting. But taunting works too lol. It's super easy to use/setup or unessential in lane and elsewhere, to the point where you do not need to worry about it, unless you legitimately have a potato for a brain.

Likewise your W is used against attack speed matchups, or AD matchups that use a lot of autos... for instance, Nasus Qs, Trynd autos (which is literally 100% of his kit/dmg), Aatrox autos (which is literally 100% of his kit/dmg), gnar (all of his mini's kit/dmg), any adc that decides they want to go top (again, all of their freaking kit), hell even gp, mundo, maokai, shyv, malphite... who else? lol

As well, it's not so that you can "position your Q to save squishies for like a couple seconds during teamfights" because that would be retarded of you, as you're a front liner. Which is why you would want to position it on yourself, in teamfights, when you engage. If you have to peel, that's different.. And guess, what?... pretty much automatically already makes you on top of the one you're peeling for.

He's not even supposed to be the most amazing teamfighter (yet he still is a damn good one), more so an expert skirmisher. Where you would use your ult to turn the tides on a duel/2v2/2v3 what have you. Landing your ult directly on top of someone allows for easy Ws on their position already. That's kind of the point...

Like I said, as someone who played a lot of Shen both before and after the rework (close to rank 7 now, but haven't really been playing) his rework is an improvement. It does have a downside of no ranged attack, but is more than made up for in utility, practicality, and "healthiness". Almost every Shen main I've seen, particularly that of higher elo, say this WAS actually one of the few good reworks. And many have replied to these threads the same way I have "leave him alone, his rework is ACTUALLY good... who cares about the damn THEME."

Learn the champ, and stop asking for him to be reworked already. In fact, stop asking for ANY reworks, at all, unless the champion is completely unviable/unplayed/ancient (yorick). Otherwise you're asking for a loaded dice to be thrown, which outcome is far more often bad than it is good, on something that's already good. JUST. STOP.

{quoted} but if you're using W to dodge then why the heck do you need a shield honestly.
