Why are champions priced so differently?

I get how new champions are a lot more expensive, but after a year of the champion being in play they're still 6300 or 4800 IP? The champ isn't cool or exciting as the newest champ released. Can we please bring down the prices faster? It just isn't fun for me to save up for 40 games for a meh champion like Anivia. Who has been out for a long time.

Prices are typically based on the difficulty of the champion along with the newer champions.

Actually, it's now entirely based on the age of the champion. Difficulty has no bearing on price. Newer champs cost more. However, whenever a new champion gets released, the oldest 6300 IP champion gets reduced to 4800.
