so whats the logic behind picking yourself into your hardest counter?

if you don't main the champion then what exactly is the logic behind it. is there a strategy to this stuff because i can't make sense of it.

or its just that people in low elo don't care or don't want to learn and adapt?

Most low elo players are what I'd like to call "All champion mains" They play almost every champion in ranked without practicing them. They usually pick the champ they are in the mood to play with like someone they saw on worlds. That guy probably didnt know it or didnt care

You literally just made me realize a problem I have (as a silver player). I'd say I have moderate experience with the champions I play in ranked but I'm nowhere near practiced with them. I should spend more time in normals or bot games working on mechanics before ranking. Thanks for posting this.

NEVER get experience in bot matches. Learn the kit against bots and get experience against humans.

Unless you are talking about doom bots, then go for the bots.

Much Agreed! I say this because I tried a few things in bot games, especially when testing junglers that simply didn't work in practice. A good example is some off meta junglers, can't remember who now, Bard or something silly, but whoever it was, i could waveclear, I could gank, but my weak early game invited immediate counter-jungling to which I couldn't do anything at all, fell behind and became useless, and this was in blind-pick, glad I'm not the sort of person to test this out in ranked :P

Because that guy just really wanted to play Yas and hasnt had a chance all day.

It's so you can learn because it doesn't matter in low elo

I mean, I pick Vlad into hard counters because 'hard counter' for him just means play really safe until level 7 or so.

Except Cass. Fuck Cass.

Yeah, some champs don't really have "hard counters" they have "counters" who make the game harder, but only a few have "hard counters" where winning the lane or even roaming becomes virtually impossible

In low elo it's more about who's better then the champion most of the time.

So true.

People in low ELO don't usually know what does and does not counter their champion. And many low ELO players do not have a high enough skill level to make things like counter-picks relevant to their experience of the game anyway. What does a counterpick matter when your Annie builds Face of the Mountain, Athene's Unholy Grail, Mikael's Crucible, Boots of Mobility, and Spirit Visage? And bear in mind: that player doesn't lose every game, sometimes they win.

There is no logic behind it because people will just pick who they want to play and not actually consider counters and whatnot. It's bad, but it happens, and it's a result of inexperience.

league community and logic goes together like Caesium & Water

is there any logic to anything people do on this game?

To be fair, and this is rare, I main mid and support. As a mid player, I have 2/3 that I am confident with, and others that I am only Meh with. Sometimes the enemy picks a champ that counters pretty much all my picks (or the jungler is such a hard counter that I am better off picking something else anyway, like Galio into Udyr/Braum support). So I pick someone who I am REALLY good with, and focus on roaming or stalling until mid game, rather than someone I can't use very well, lose anyway, and end up not being able to make a comeback.

Anivia into Syndra for example is suicide, so I'd rather roam with Taliyah than try to fight her with something I am less confident with, whereas champs like Kassadin outroam me and outtrade me, so I just go with picking Anivia and just playing under tower is probably best bet, rather than going something like Galio who might be able to win trades, but will get ganked easily, run out of mana often, and I won't be expecting ganks against a Kass unless I have Vi or something as jungler.

These are mostly examples using champs I play, I don't play ad midlaners and a lot of other champs that would be safer

edit: you did say "if you don't main" to which I should just say those people are "Yolo" lol

if it's a norms, then they are probably trying to teach themselves how to play safer. It's a very punishing method, but it's a valid reason.

In ranked...they could be a OTP and still suck
