and I gotta tell ya, I'm impressed. I haven't touched a champion that did so little damage in along time.

My issue with him is that you fall off hardly during mid / late game. Early game he's a real monster, but once everyone is grouped up, you aren't enough tanky and get melted fairly quickly

Sounds like you have no clue on how to play him. Same as a lot of others who whined him being the "worst rework" until he got a seriously high pick/ban rate in proplays.

then what am I missing? All of his stuff has wind up and if you don't get the tip your damage is pathetic. With Black cleaver, death's dance and a steraks the damage I was doing was absolutely pathetic. Is there a certain build path I need to use? Certain runes? Because w/e I do if I land my first Q knock up they just disengage and I'm left with no ability to chase or follow up with it.

  • Take advantage of his passive AA. It actually deals quite a lot. Use it to occasionally stab your opponent when they come for the cs.

  • His E grants you bonus AD temporarily after dashing. Use it alongside Sudden Impact rune in between Q & E casts to dish out damage.

  • His Q tip damage becomes stronger on the next Q. Meaning you should try prioritize your main Q tip damage on both the 2nd & 3rd.

  • You can re-adjust your Q positioning by landing your W on the opponent. Land W, hit them with the 1st Q tip to force them to stay in the W pit. Once they got pulled back, immediately land the 2nd Q and then the 3rd for tons of damage.

  • When the enemy is seriously low on Hp, you can land a surprise Q damage for the kill. Such as "miss" your first two Q, and then, Q-E-Flash for the surprise kill.

For Runes which I mainly use in between times with Aatrox in-lane:

#Option 1:

Arcane Comet -> Nimbus Cloak -> Celerity -> Scorch Sudden Impact -> Ravenous Hunter

  • Mainly for a more damaging poke since your Q tip will most of the time guarantees the Comet damage.
  • Nimbus Cloak & Celerity combined with your ult's movement speed boost will grant you a seriously high AD stats, which can be seriously useful in heavy teamfights.
  • Ravenous Hunter compliments more healing alongside your E healing passive.

#Option 2a:

Electrocute -> Sudden Impact -> Eyeball Collection -> Ravenous Hunter Bone Plating -> Revitalize

  • This is a typical bruiser offensive/defensive side of Runes.
  • Electrocute helps put more burst in your combos, while the Resolve runes will help to mitigate any incoming pokes or counter-attacks.
  • Having Ravenous Hunter & Revitalize together can assist you a lot in healing more during teamfights.

#Option 2b:

Electrocute -> Sudden Impact -> Eyeball Collection -> Ravenous Hunter Nimbus Cloak -> Celerity

  • Pick this if you're confident defense-wise, and just proceed straight on more of the offensive side.

Sweet, gonna give this a shot now. But I do have a grip with his passive, it's on a 25 second cooldown but it hits minions so would have to sacrifice cs or farm with your Q in order to save it. Is this intentional or is there a way around this other than just Q farm?

If you had to use your passive to farm, just do it. Be reminded that the cooldown gets reduce by 2 for spamming your abilities, or hitting someone with the Q tip. Say if you casted your Q 3 times & hits all 3 tips, you'd be reducing your passive by 12 seconds already.

Cool, thanks man I'll keep trying with him and be more aware of his passive.

Yeah I'm trying man, I really am and I just do not feel like I'm p utting out enough damage.

Just give it some time. The champion can be unpredictably hard to play since it still depends on the matchup. Not everyone can main their champions in a single day.

You don't think the fact that you went 0/10 in that game was the issue?

Yeah I did but even with items I was unable to stick any damage to Evelyn who was extremely squishy. But as Beatz pointed out I believe I was doing somethings wrong. I think I'm treating his kit like Riven's due to her 3 q strike and that's a completely wrong way to look at it.

Mmm, yeah it's very popular to compare her to Riven, but that is the wrong idea. Riven dives in to stun and land a small bit of burst with one ability. During the laning phase, Aatrox is much better at poking. Landing precise Q's and reposition if needed with your E for constant harass. Now in that 0/10 game, you were up against Urgot, who also harasses as a range guy, but if he dives right in, he can really punish you. Divers like Kled are generally his counters, though Urgot could have the same idea.

And of course Darius (in your next game) will stick to you like glue if he gets close. That one was probably just an unfortunate match-up.

Squishy? What a joke. On full build you have +400 AD and 3.8k HP except yoi have 400 AD after you buy item 3053 and before you start stacking HP and item 3748.
