Am I allowed to change the key for Attack Move?

I think it would make no sense for this to be against any rule but I've switched my Attack Move to left click and put select on my middle mouse button. Since Riot's keybindings system is frankly terrible and very inflexible, I had to follow this Reddit post to do it.

Most settings are available from the GUI but to change some keybindings, you need to edit a configuration file. I have no idea why I have to go through this trouble for such basic changes like disabling the scroll wheel or changing a keybinding but this is the only way I can get the setup I want. Editing a configuration file isn't scripting and provides no advantage. Anything you change on it would have to be supported in the game by Riot. You can use the configuration file to change anything that you can with the UI (such as resolution, graphics etc.) but some things aren't graphically supported.

People have been using settings like this for keybindings since at least 2012 when i first saw a Reddit post about how to do it. I've heard Riot even helped some players with setting it up. I just want to make sure that this is OK and I'd like an official response on it. Moreover, I want to bring to attention how inadequate the keybindings system is (as well as the lack of settings per champion). I also think there should be a single key for Target Champions Only + Player Attack Only Click and have my Razer mouse setup to have a side button activate both but don't use it since again i'm not sure if it's allowed.

You're probably fine, but I don't know why you'd ever do that. Well you're not breaking the game I agree, so go ahead and keep doing it I guess.

It's more convenient than other keys for me. It's the same reason Valkrin plays with Flash on D when mid and Flash on F when jungle. It doesn't have to make sense for you but it makes sense for him and we should have flexibility to setup things how we like.

Riot does not support it. But there is no way they can find out if you changed the binding unless you send them your config files.

Hey there,

Thanks for the thorough bug report! Unfortunately, changing your .ini manually is not supported and can result in unexpected behavior. It is known that rebinding mouse button 1 can cause issues, which is why it's actually not allowed ingame.

i didn't have to do any computer nonsense to switch mine, you should be able to do it from just regular game settings. my attack move (a+left) used to be on space bar instead of a and my attack move command (shift+right) is on one of my middle mouse buttons.

It works for some keys but not all. For example, you can't make Attack Move be Shift by itself or switch it to the left mouse button.
