What if your Elo counted your Champion Grade rather than your Win/Loss in Solo/Duo Queue?
Then people would be planted in the division they SHOULD be placed in. Here's what I'm thinking.
When you are unranked for whatever reason, you are assigned 100LP. Getting a good grade will increase your LP while getting a C+ or lower reduces it. The higher your grade, the more points you get and the faster you advance.
D- removes 55 points D removes 50 points D+ removes 45 points C- removes 40 points C removes 35 points C+ removes 30 points B- grants 5 points B grants 10 points B+ grants 10 points A- grants 15 points A grants 20 points A+ grants 25 points S- grants 30 points S grants 40 points S+ grants 45 points
This list could be subject to change, but will get rid of the "My team is the reason I'm in elo hell" completely, because your elo now properly reflects what your actual skill level is.
As you climb the Elo ladder with your actual skill now being counted, you get mixed with stronger people. This is when you are faced with harder matchups, so your grade won't always be S+ if you're playing your best champion in a high elo if you're from Silver. To go up a division, you need to first get to the maximum required LP in that division, (200 for Bronze, 400 for Silver, etc) and then score a grade of A or better. (A- won't cut it) This will show you if you need to learn more or if you are truly ready to go up a division.
Bronze: 0LP - 200LP Silver: 201LP - 400LP Gold: 401LP- 600LP Platinum: 601LP - 800LP Diamond: 801LP- 1000LP Master: 1001LP+ Challanger: Just like right now. Top 200 people with the most LP are put into Challanger.
This list is also subject to change to make it harder for people to climb the elo ladder if this is too easy.
Pros and Cons:
Pros: -Ranked no longer by win loss ratio -Winning or Losing won't matter, only skill. -Encourages people to try playing champions before using them in Solo/Duo Queue -Will spread out the League of Legends population away from 80% being in Silver or Bronze -Players will feel good about their grade because it will finally mean something -Shows players if they're improving
Cons: -Can possibly be abused -...I'm open to constructive criticism.
TLDR: Current ranking system too stronk. Rito nerf plez
