Good chance for upcoming In-game Voice

So today in "Ask Riot" they posted the following statement:

"If you value competitive team play so much, why are you against voice chat? It would really make games more coordinated. In the past, our stance on voice comms emphasized the increased potential for negative behavior. We've since reconsidered our philosophy around voice chat and while there are some challenges we want to overcome (keeping it an opt-in experience, for example), we want to do it. We believe League as a team sport should reward coordination, and that voice chat is a valuable tool for getting teams (and strangers) aligned. We'll probably begin deeper investigations once the League Client update is in a stable release so we don't have to build the feature twice, but hopefully this is a clear update on our philosophy and where we stand. We'll also give you further updates when the time comes."

So it looks like there is a good chance they will go through with it in the future. SO i wanted to say this NOW, because if their has been ONE THING that Oh-So-Commonly happens at Rito games, is that rito WILL NOT go back on a decision, like the large outbreak of hate against dynamic que and they REFUSE to revert it.

So my point is that I DONT WANT to talk to random people. AND I especially dont want to go play a game of ranked, NOT use ingame voice AND THEN get shamed for it after game if my team loses. "This guy didn't use voice chat so I ganked his lane and killed myself --all his fault for not using voice." Look Rito says they want it to be an "Opt in" kind of feature, but its might as well be mandatory if you want to not get shamed/ have a better win% chance, because you KNOW that you are deliberately putting yourself and you team at a disadvantage by not using it, because the enemy team CAN and most likely WILL be using it.

Honestly, I see this feature becoming Rito's SECOND COMING of dynamic que. Everyone will think its a cool idea at first, but then see all the problems it has; Such as being able to TALK SHIT and their automated system wont be able to punish anyone because it cant detect voice (considering that the real player based tribunal is gone.)

So Riot, Since you REFUSE to go back on virtually all your "big decisions" -- Pls don't make this one in the first place

Agreed. I'd rather not want to be told I was a worthless piece of shit that should off itself.

I'd rather just mute and focus on the gameplay.

the biggest concern should be how can this be regulated, in what instance should someone be reported for saying things about my mother.

is riot really going to listen to the voice chat? or will it be blindly reported, or even more alarming.... not reported at all.

Good. That's wonderful for you.

Go back there and do it away from me.

true your opinion is the one and only that matters

Voice chat will be the thing that finally kills the game for me.

I don't like Dynamic Q. I think it's a major down grade from Solo Q, but at the end of the day, I can put up with it.

I can't put up with game after game of useless fuckwits talking my ear off. I am able to put up with my idiot team mates because I cannot hear what they are saying.

Every time I have tried playing with teams of people on coms IT IS THE VOICE CHAT that drives me away. I hate it. I absolutely hate it. The worst part is, they are considering voice chat because they made a change to the game THAT NOBODY FUCKING WANTS IN THE FIRST PLACE!

If they add voice chat i will quit league..

It will not benefit me nor my friends it will only increase toxicity and make the people who want to play in peace quit.

Just look at any game that has ingame chat people play loud music, scream, curse and tell you that you suck, the list could keep going.

If league wants to get rid of some more of the community and increase toxicity then this is the way to go...

I also had a couple of points that I forgot

  1. Playing ranked at night would not be an option because I live with other people who go to bed sooner than I do. -I think this could honestly make que times even worse at night in general
  2. Players who are weak at English (second or 3rd language) or Just players from other countries would have a very hard time.

They can fix toxicity with a simple mute button, just like you can mute someone typing shit.

What difference does it make if someone screams at you or SCREAMS AT YOU IN TEXT? Just mute and move on like you would normally.

This is a good addition, in my opinion (even though I most likely won't be using it, or using it very rarely). And before anyone says anything, I'm not for Dynamic Queue, I also want SoloQ back.

Also, if someone tries to shame you for not using voice chat, again, just mute the person, it takes no effort to do so and makes your life easier. If someone's toxic you most definitely won't suffer anything from lack of communication because they definitely won't be typing anything worth reading, so there's no real reason not to mute someone.

Edit: just look at Overwatch's voice chat and you can see that it's not necessarily a problem if done right.

These are some good points to be fair. However, at least for a player like me I just don't like how I would basically HAVE to use a feature like this to win ranked more often, Honestly this all feels like a CHORE to me. Like im coming home to a goddamn telemarketing job on a headset to get a little bit of ELO. As unrelaxing as ranked is in the first place, it would just make me never play it again.

you know you could still just use the text chat while listening to your teammates you're not being forced to talk lol

yeah but back to the point of players using voice having an advantage, If you are going to type. it defeats the purpose of communicating quickly/ being able to control your character at the same time like during a team fight. in other words its putting you at a disadvantage and that would make using Voice "semi-mandatory" You dont HAVE to use it. BUT you are at a disadvantage if you don't, which also raises your teammates expectations that you DO use it as well, hence where this "shaming" idea comes from.

good point i suppose. but typically teamfights need coordination beforehand rather than during.
