Dyanamic Que Sucks

So most of agree that DQ is bad and we want solo que but I want to release my frustrations with DQ again.

While Riot's intent was bringing the community together, and encouraging you to play with friends, they fail to realize they are essentially making the community more separate than ever.

League seems to be twice as more toxic than before, I hate seeing the constant unsporting and team harassment that goes on, but it seems to be every single match now with premades talking major shit. Of course, they don't get banned, they are just harassing in such ways that isn't reportable. I mean they aren't verbal and using strong language, but more so being snarky and sly with their words you know? You can't get banned for that, yet you got their whole team taunting you and trying to piss you off.

I could go on literally all day about this, but whats there to say that hasn't already been said? We don't like DQ.

Good luck as a Jungler with DQ, they got it the worse if they go solo.

Signed and upvoted. BRING SOLO QUEUE BACK

It's funny when someone at a high elo says it, it becomes upvoted. But if someone with low elo says it, it's wrong.

What a biased community.

You're wrong. Most people prefer Dynamic Queue over than Solo Queue. On a similar note the boards is also not the majority, so even if all board members agree and the rest of the community takes the other side boards loses hard and Riot would not even pay attention to the boards.

And is this statement backed up by that "survey" that says "I like to play games with my friends"?

It beats out the claims saying the majority doesn't like it when there's not a snowballs chance in hell anyone could've gotten survey responses from over 30 million players worldwide. Again Solo Q would be nice but right now not going to happen and the constant whining about it does nothing other than just make Riot ignore it.

Repeatedly spamming the forums about it each day has had absolutely no effect on Riot's response or plans at this stage. Perhaps a better approach would be to ask them politely what's their plans on how to address this issue and what problems are keeping them from doing it.

It doesn't beat out any claims if the survey was rigged for positive answers.

"I like playing games with my friends." - Riot interprets it as players like Dynamic Queue in ranked. There are already people who caught on to it.

If the question was "I like dynamic queue", added with "I like the new champion select", the result would be drastically different.

Also some players HAVE tried to ask politely. Riot gave them an answer that didn't even answer the main question so they got a lot of heat from it. Look at their latest RiotPls.

How do you know it was rigged? Also there was more than just that one survey out there which asked additional and different questions.

Perhaps Riot has more data than you're aware of so there's really nothing to catch onto other than your own preconceived biases or perhaps you're right but claiming one thing and actually having the proof is another.

Have you read the latest Red post on the very issue where they admit they could've communicated better and explained what their plans are? I went looking for an answer just to be sure if they posted something and sure enough they did yet no one here wants to actually look and just instead blames it all on conspiracies and Riot not listening.

Knowledge is power.

The relevant section including an admittance on screwing up on both how they handled Solo Q explanations as well as Sandbox.

Riot Pls: Dynamic queue, sandbox, and League 2016 First up we have the latest installment of Riot Pls from New001, ScuttleChris, and Banksy, offering a discussion on the future of LoL and a few recent hot topics - Dynamic Queue and a Sandbox mode:

Warning wall of text, I'll try and bold the more relevant parts.

Sandbox (aka Training) mode We were wrong to completely shut down the possibility of sandbox mode. Full stop. Our initial argument - that training mode makes for an even higher barrier to entry - makes some behavioral assumptions that many rightly called us out on. Your passionate feedback and sound reasoning, along with a lot of internal conversations around this vision of League as a global sport have made it clear that our concerns only have the potential to become reality if we’re not doing our job. Providing competitive experiences at all levels of play also means we should be providing the right training tools at all levels of play. That said, being open to the idea doesn’t mean it immediately becomes our top priority. The internal team that would develop this feature is focused on a different project for the foreseeable future, so while we’re saying we want to do it and, one day, we will, that’s the extent of this commitment. Your feedback has always been a powerful presence in conversations around how we achieve our goals, so while we can’t even promise SoonTM here, we didn’t want to leave the issue canceled. When we begin tangible, focused work on sandbox mode, we’ll update you. (Quick caveat: when we say sandbox mode, we’re specifically referring to a training mode where players can practice core skills - not a sandbox ‘modify your game in any way’ mode.)

Dynamic queue We don’t expect you to rent out a gaming house with four friends just so you can stay in Plat, but we do want to support a queue that levels up in competition like any other team sport: through leadership, cooperation, and, yes, raw skill. All athletes possess these attributes in different measures, but they understand and value them intrinsically. Prior to the launch of dynamic queue, we felt like we had a competitive ladder that over-indexed on the raw skill and individualism parts instead of naturally promoting all-around great teamplay. When the competitive team made its recent update, a lot of players took away the conclusion of “no solo queue” -- that we were hiding from a hard conversation by being purposefully vague. In reality, we’re not making a call on solo queue because there are some critical issues we need to fix in dynamic queue to understand what’s actually missing. Promising solo queue in our original announcement was premature - a knee-jerk reaction to a situation we were still figuring out - and our silence on the matter (outside of some miscommunications) only made things more suspicious. Here’s the rundown: We know that for some players, dynamic queue undermines individual recognition of skill, and that’s not something we can solve with iterative improvements. It’s a philosophical difference. But, we know a lot of things that can be solved with iterative improvements, and our current top three priorities are improving the solo player experience against premades, lowering queue times, and smoothing out role selection weight. In an ideal (and optimistic) world, getting these numbers right would make a second queue unnecessary, but it’s not something we’re dismissing as of yet. Right now we're prioritizing the stability and health of a single queue - two would split the ranked player base and have a significant impact on wait times - and this is not a decision we’re taking lightly. When it comes to a philosophical stance, however, we do want to be clear: we believe that dynamic queue is closer to representing a healthy, competitive landscape in League of Legends than solo/duo queue. We’re not saying this to present a binary ‘one or the other’ situation -- it’s a belief in the same way we know we’re under-serving those who want a way to measure (and communicate) their individual performance. This will be an ongoing conversation as we finish stabilizing dynamic queue and develop a deeper understanding of what we should be prioritizing next.

Continued next post.

It's just a game not a cult. If someone agrees with a designers decision it doesn't make them a brain washed cultist. To be frank the forum crowd who is hell bent on giving RIOT a hard time is far more cult like. If anyone disagrees the forum dwellers they are immediately down voted and trashed.

I'm still asking for another survey that directly ask if people like Dynamic Queue or not. I really believe the forum crowd will disappointed by the results. Remember , a few post with the same people up voting them doesn't count as the majority of the player base. The forum whiners don't speak as a whole for the community. However they do speak the most.

Really bad example since you're only giving 2 choices whereas Riot's gave multiple choices and there was also more than 1 question as well as survey. The survey was also done in other regions. Therefore your analogy won't work. Since each region was probably asked it in a different way as well as probably had different questions entirely given the cultural realities for each region. some regions are known for having more friends play while others more solo play.

Again unless you can use actual data gathering techniques and follow the protocols they'd have used especially given the past methodologies posted in their prior data releases you can't say their results were biased when you don't know all of what data was used. Now given that they're using proven techniques and they'd not risk their reputations putting out something false or misleading we can assume they've got way more data than just that 1 survey you're referring to.

There's at least 3 surveys I'm personally aware of doing in the last year and all 3 had different questions relating to different things and there's also all the feedback they got during Team Builder.

With all that said it doesn't invalidate each person's individual feelings about Solo Q not being available or how they feel about Dynamic Q. It does invalidate all the claims about the majority disfavoring Dynamic Q since as I've pointed out it's impossible for anyone outside of Riot to have gotten the opinions of over 30 million players.

General Esdeath 1 votes

That's not a bad example, the survey I got was literally:

"How do you feel about Dynamic Queue?"

  • I like dynamic queue
  • I don't play ranked

There's no negative. You could assume if you don't like it you don't play, but what about people who only play normals, ARAM, or dominion or even customs with friends? It's misleading data. Riot doesn't even follow the procedure for data collection but they'll keep shoving the "Statistics show" excuse into your face. And please don't use the "30 million" number, because that includes, as stated above, people who play:

  • Normals only (Blind)
  • ARAM
  • Bots
  • Dominion (When it was a mode)
  • Customs
  • Once a week
  • Once a month
  • Not anymore

True but they have to include the whole playerbase which half would be 30 million because otherwise that'd skew the data collection. As they pointed out in a presentation before when queried about why they included all ranks of ranked when collecting data it's because most of the ranked players base was in Bronze to Silver.

The actual amount of ranked players while large is still small compared to the meat of the playerbase hence why they're trying to please that % of their base while working on a way to please the other % of their playerbase. The last data point I saw was around 20% played rank give or take and that's probably not accurate anymore since the game has continued to grow so much.

As far as not following standard data procedures how did you come to that conclusion? Did they post what they collected or how they collected it yet? When they post the data they usually give the procedures they used etc without giving away anything proprietary which is standard.

General Esdeath 1 votes

I know they have to, but we shouldn't. And now you're saying Riot hasn't put out there statistic data? If they haven't put anything out how do you know they're not skewing data as I said above? We've all gotten surveys, even the ones on random things like "Do you think X champion is balanced?" They pop up at the end of some games.

I like how you still can't argue my points without using a Straw Man Argument. Besides which how do you know I don't play ranked since like many on these forums that post that play ranked they don't post on their mains to avoid getting trolled by jerks on here. That's a long standing practice dating back to S1.

You're the type of person who can't accept not being able to win an argument because you can't debate properly so you have to resort to insults and Ad Hominems. You still haven't shown any data proving you represent the opinions of over 30 millions players. So now matter how much you try and deflect you still haven't proven your point.

4500 comments still doesn't translate to the majority of the community though, and here in NA you'd have to have at least 5.5 million or so saying so. Realistically there's no way of proving the majority of the community hates Dynamic Q without getting responses from over 30 million players. That's not to say that a lot of people wouldn't like to have Solo q also.

Oh nice response, tell me did that insult make you feel better about yourself? Now where did you come up with the data for your claims since you must obviously work at riot to have such data?

Actually I know quite a bit about majority which is way more than you do perhaps you should go look up the definition of a majority since if there's over 60-70 million individual accounts that'd mean that for there to be a majority to back up your claims than 30+ million players wouldv've had to stop playing suddenly which hasn't happened.

Perhaps you should follow your own advice here.

This is one definition for a majority.

Simple Definition of majority : a number that is greater than half of a total : a number of votes that is more than half of the total number : the group or party that is the greater part of a large group

Full Definition of majority plural majorities 1 obsolete : the quality or state of being greater 2 a : the age at which full civil rights are accorded b : the status of one who has attained this age 3 a : a number or percentage equaling more than half of a total <a majority of voters> <a two-thirds majority> b : the excess of a majority over the remainder of the total : margin <won by a majority of 10 votes> c : the greater quantity or share <the majority of the time> 4 : the group or political party having the greater number of votes (as in a legislature) 5 : the military office, rank, or commission of a major majority adjective

Notice how majority is more than half?

I'd have responded sooner but real life has been much more important and interesting lately.

You mean you're talking about yourself well that's good to know. I mean in your own little world your made up facts must be pretty nice but out here in the real world the adults actually go by facts not made up facts. Again not one of you has provided a shred of proof that the majority of the player base doesn't like dynamic Q. So where again is the responses from over 30 million people again agreeing with you?

As for insults please you're insults are childish and I've actually gotten plenty of laughs from them since none of them are either original nor even do anything other than stroke your ego's. When you want to have an adult discussion without your childish insults which do nothing but show you've got no proof nor argument I'll be waiting.

You at least state that people you know don't prefer it so at least you're honest but to say that anyone who plays duo or solo a lot does not like it isn't true but how can you say you represent the views of 20-30 million plus players?

I am not sure what the other 20-30million players think. But i know that i took that survey and when it asked "do you like to play league with friends". I answered "yes". Actually I agree with what you're saying but I also know that there was at least 2 more surveys done 1 of which covered your ranked experiences both in the past, the present and what possible experiences would be if x happened or what you'd like to see happen etc. Most of the playerbase doesn't play ranked which is what Riot has to cater to so out of say 70 million individual accounts at last count there was like 12 million ranked players or so worldwide give or take an extra 5-10 million. NA had less than 2 million out of 11 million playing ranked. The 2 million is probably closer to 1.5 as of that data point.

Myself I'd love to see a pure Solo Q mode come out as an added option but I'm not sure if they can do that regionwise only since the only regions that can really support a solo Q experience are NA and EU just based upon a population density. Riot discussed that's why they don't have anything beyond 1 or 2 options for most regions for most of the day/night. There just isn't the server population there to support it.

Which brings up an interesting idea, can Riot institute the Solo Q for NA/EU only on a trial basis to see if the server population would be there to support it and if not at what times would it be available. Since if they can do a rotating schedule so to speak for other regions why not for NA/EU.

DQ wasn't bad on my way up to gold, but once I hit gold, it just seems like every diamond player+ is on smurf accounts boosting people for profit. what's even more annoying is that riot is even encouraging this behavior. In fact, at least several streamers who are diamond+ players have had rioters come into their stream and actually ENCOURAGE this.. it's rather sad for people like me who queue solo because most of the people I know either don't play ranked, or play the same roles i do.

The problem here is less the Dynamic Queue and more the Smurfs. You can't boost someone without a Smurf, and Smurfs ruin games for those who actually belong at that Elo.

Can't boost without a smurf? Even with dynamic queue out, account sharing is still the most popular and effective boosting method.

And account sharing + boosting got players banned over and over again.
