Zed redesign

Ok, so I'm not sure about other midlaners (especially Zed mains) but i have thoroughly enjoyed midlane since his absence about a week ago. Mid lane has been a lot more fun, diana has actually come out of the framework (and yes she is a "counter" to zed but the recent rework to items has had her grown in popularity), and overall more mages in mid lane.

However, I know that soon, Zed is going to be back, and mid lane is going to be horrendous again. Try and tell me to build Zhonya's! By the time you have enough gold for such a buy he is already ahead of you in lane.

However, I would like to make a few recommendations to change zed's design a little bit so he's a bit more manageable to deal with in lane.

  1. Make his clone teleport have a minimum range. One of the main problems with Zed right now is that when he gets his ult, he basically gets a free tower dive. The primary reason this is true is because when he ults you, he leaves a shadow behind that he can safely teleport back to regardless of distance. So he can take a turret shot or two as he deals enough damage to make sure his mark is going to kill you, and then ports safely back to his shadow. Having a minimum range on both his W and R will require players to think before making such a reckless dive. As of right now, Zed is the only champion that can safely dive a turret at a low level with minimum risk of dying.

  2. Remove the damage from Items contributing to his ult Zed can deal a lot of damage with just his basic abilities, but when his ult takes into contribution ALL sources of damage coming from zed, it's a bit overpowering. Items like Bork add to his ult damage which makes it pretty much a guaranteed kill. Youmuu's cannot be helped as it increases his attack speed when activated but removing bonus damage from items would be extremely helpful to those just trying to farm under tower.

Overall, mages in midlane are screwed when this guy steps onto the field. The only ones that may have a chance are annie when she has her stun, malz when he has his ult, and lissandra when she has her ult. Seriously though, can we implement at least one thing to balance him out?

Hes not even that strong. pick a ranged champ, and if he gets ahead of you then you just need to learn to play against him. Because he is melee there is no reason to have more cs then you... So it shouldnt be hard

Zhonyas and QSS are all unbelievably hard counters to Zed. Also, Zed's Q and W and subsequently his shadow's e is a skillshot which makes Zed easily beaten with mobility or dodging. Zed is unique in a way that he can be countered harder than other champions and counters harder than other champions. I think what Riot did giving him the 1 second cooldown to reactivate R was a great change to balance him as it gives the opponent time to react. If you are having trouble against Zed as a mage that should be expected! He is an assassin and by definition he should counter mages. Needless to say Zed is more than balanced because even mages have the opportunity to survive against Zed's burst with one simple item purchase.

I think Zed is in a decent place. His job is to counter mages in lane and seek priority targets in teamfights, if he even wants to try that. It honestly isn't that hard to dodge his q and if you get hit by a w-e combo you are too close to him anyway. In mid lane cleanse and barrier hurt his potential very hard and mid/late game the adc has qss, apc has zhonyas, and support has mikaels (if adc doesnt have qss) so hes basically useless save for split pushing. While I do think his w rank 5 is a little overtuned as an permanent AD steroid I don't mind his presence to bully out azir and other mages with a safe lane phase and a godlike mid/late.

you wanna know how to beat Zed? play these champs Ahri Annie Chogath Diana Ekko Fiora Gnar Irelia JarvanIV Jax Malphite Mordekaiser Renekton Sion Swain Talon Viktor Vladimir. These champs are VERY strong against a Zed. IF you can't beat Zed with these champs then plz uninstall. item 3157 and item 3140 helps. It is pretty fair that Zed should be OP since he's the 3rd hardest champ to play in League of Legends. I dare you to play Zed and 1v1 an Ekko and see if you can beat him cuz I doubt you can.
