Is league finally dying?

It just seems with the recent changes, League is going into a HUGE nosedive.

  • Dynamic Queue is an utter failure, and regardless of how much the fans complain, Riot insists that what they are doing is right.
  • Several streamers are now quitting League and going to games like Overwatch simply because it is fresh and exciting while League has grown stale. A maximum of 3 maps (4 once when DND and Ascension rotate in) maps to play on, and only one ever really get's used competitvely. At least HotS has about 7 different maps that rotate in.
  • The last two champions released have been overwhelmingly unimpressive. Ao Shin was a highly anticipated character...and then they release Aurelion Sol, he fell flat. Taliyah also has yet (to the point) seen a competitive rating and had one of the worst winning statistic in the history of League of Legends (Syndra only topping her at release with a 28.94, while Taliyah is sitting at around 34%)
  • To try and soothe player's hatred of what they are doing, Riot (instead of fixing the problem) decides to release cosmetics.
  • They promise to come out with a Rotating Game Mode where new game modes are allowed to be played every weekend. But within these past couple of weeks only ascension and Hexakill have been brought back, even though most players absolutely love Urf. In fact, Urf may be the only thing saving this game right now.

These are just some of the things i have happened to notice and, frankly, i might be on the verge of quitting this game like several streamers have already. I don't know if Riot is planning a new game and wants to gradually kill League until their new game comes out, or if they just want to finish this all together, but i for one am tired of this game.

I agree with some things OP said but a lot of this is just poor complaining. Like "urf may be only thing saving this game" is pretty ridiculous thought. Or the comment referring to tank meta.Yea there is some work that needs to be done in that area but is way over exaggerated.

Don't forget the ever reoccurring tank meta, which Riot refuses to fix. I mean, 80% reduced damage 5000+ health, base damages and high scaling enough to kill anything that isn't a tank with ease. The only real counter play is the tank's team being complete trash. I mean, I literally played a game where the enemy team could tower dive 5v5 just because they had three tanks. Its too much to handle, and I think thats another reason why people are leaving, the game simply isn't fun because its one sided.

It is. I am actually glad. Rito has not listened to the vast majority of its players complaints and now with the new gen coming out with so many newer and better games Rito is looking like it's done for. Can't help but smile at the fact tbh. This game hit it's prime quite a while ago and it's been nothing but a disappointment for me and many really avid, good players since.

Stupid greedy company has only focused on ways to improve revenue via skins and bs crap no one cares about. The only reason anyone ever bought skins was because they wanted to support the game, now they feel forced to support the game as it's only getting worse because they won't listen to their community. The hubris. Welp, off to play some actually fun games. Good riddance Rito.

I'd say theyre squeezing out every little bit of life they can with almost every patch being a major update to gameplay. Until the Alpha client becomes live, the game is very unstable, fragmented, and feels as though the game lost it's identity. Yes it's no longer the game it was in season 3, but it's trying to be every other moba game without being the other moba games.

Chromas are never being made. Loot crates/keys are hard to come by. Only 1 game mode really matters in terms of ranked.

I have to say, Taliyah is actually extremely good if you can use her W correctly. I fed my ass off when I was 1st time Taliyah but by 3rd time I could actually do something. I wasn't good, but I could actually cast spells the way I wanted to.

Stop mentioning this. It means NOTHING. Leauge is a MOBA, Overwatch is an FPS, there are so many things different about this that it's just a laugh when you even try to bring them up together.

it was fun the first time around now you see the same 16 champions every single game of urf its beyond boring really

other then that yes league is dying pretty fast right now

Citation required: You can't just make a statement calling something a failure and not provide any evidence whatsoever. If Dynamic Queue was such a failure then how come so many people are still playing ranked... as in millions.

Just like other games that have come and gone in the last seven years, Overwatch will have it's time in the sun and then fade and those disillusioned individuals will come back. Besides, who bases the success of a game upon whether or not "Several streamers" have left? Who cares, really?

Won't disagree with you about Aurelion Sol. Bad, binary design, not fun to play, not fun to play against. Taliyah, on the other hand, is an interesting champion. I'm not here to debate the interest of a specific champ, but if you're going to quote numbers, at least get your facts right. As of July 18, 2016 at 8:25am PDT, Taliyah is sitting at 47.8% winrate (source: lolking) or 46.68% (source: champions.gg). That's a far cry from the seemingly made up statistic that you put out there.

It should also be noted that Taliyah has a reasonably high skill cap and that experienced players see quite a boost in win rates, as is often the case with champions. So I think it's a bit premature to hate on Taliyah.

I have to agree with you here. I don't understand how you can call it "ROTATING" game mode and then not have the modes, uh, ROTATE. It's been two months since URF, but in that time Poro king has appeared twice and will appear again before there is any sign of URF. If you have a rotating mode, just go in the same sequence... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and so on... if you add a new one then simply continue where the sequence left off... 1, 2, 3, 6, 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6, 4, 5.. etc. It isn't hard Riot.
