Could Galio Not Back Up Three Miles During His E

ChasmOfTrossm··1 votes·1,092 views

Seriously, it feels like I am HELPING my opponent chase me when I use this fucking ability. Who the fuck made it like this. And the way it's built, my fucking god, what the hell. He has WINGS for crying out loud, why doesn't he just flap them really hard instead of having to back up like he's about to catapult himself.

It's not that effective as an escape. That's not really what it's meant for.

Hence, why I asked who the fuck designed the ability. It's moronic as hell that there are tons of other champions with dashes in the game, and they can use their dashes for multiple purposes instead of literally just the one.

I mean for fucks sake, HE CAN'T EVEN GO OVER A WALL, AND HE'S A COLOSSUS. If anything, he should just smash right through it, but some dickhead over at Riot Games clearly must have hated the old Galio, because he actually was able to fulfill his gameplay fantasy, but instead they had to dial him so far back and turn him into this moronic support-style anti-mage-tank that really isn't even that good as an anti-mage-tank because you while he has dmg reduction, there's a million other champions who have damage reduction on their kits. His damage reduction just happens to scale with his MR, and the MR ratio on his passive is a fucking joke.

You literally get more out of his passive by building AD, which is only applicable, because all on-hit mages convert their total AD into magic damage anyway, or at least I believe that is the case.

Ever thought of the possibility that it is designed that way so you can't use it as an reliable escape?

Except there are tons of champions with dashes that can reliably use their dashes as escapes.

Tristana Tryndamere Khazix and before you say only offensive champs like assassins, etc Poppy Shen Renekton

CLEARLY Galio's E wasn't meant to be used as an escape, but dashes are made to have multiple applications, not simply one: reposition, engage, disengage, move in front of a skillshot to save an ally etc. The skill itself was stupidly designed and made needlessly limited, when his ultimate is already limited as is, given it can only be used to help an ally, thus making Galio have less agency of his own to do things. Galio's kit functions better as a support mage, and that is not cool, it's not fun, it's not exhilarating to play.

He is supposed to be an anti-mage: a war machine designed to absorb magic attacks and bring the fight back to them, not a champion who holds the hands of others, and can barely function on his own.

Yeah and as an antimage war machine, he's designed to go in. His E isn't designed to be used as an escape. Hes a champ that's made to go in and survive obnoxious amounts of damage, not skirmish a bit then run when things get bad. You hav that option but that's not his design philosophy

Except his damage reduction scales with magic resist, meaning he is supposed to be absorbing an obnoxious amount of MAGIC damage, not an obnoxious amount of every form of damage, which is what damage reduction does. It does not discriminate between two types of damage, it reduces ALL incoming damage. If he gets to absorb everything, which he does, then it undermines his role as an anti-MAGE, and places emphasis on him being anti-DAMAGE. The design philosophy is a stupid one and the wrong kind of attention to what Galio is meant to be:

champion philosophy > design philosophy

Old Galio absorbed a massive amount of magic damage, but if he got attacked by an ADC one too many times, he'd be dead, which is why you never EVER wanted to pick Galio into a Vayne, because you were guaranteed to not only take a buttload of physical damage, you could also damn near oneshot yourself with your own ability, because Vayne does TRUE damage based on your max hp. His old passive, while annoying to deal with as a mage, at least wasn't self-harmful to the philosophy of what the CHAMPION was meant to be.

Shen has a dash because it is an aoe engage tool, and is short ranged with a very long cooldown. So if he uses it to escape he cant initiate. Poppy's dash is targeted and the bonus move speed in her w is to help her team disengage from team fights. Renekton can only dash once if he is trying to run away since he only gets the second charge if he hits an enemy, and uses it to get quick trades in lane with his e-w-q-e combo.

Galio shouldnt be the primary engage tool for your team and that was done intentionally. You need to have someone else to start the fight for your kit to work effectively, He is a cc machine and if his E didnt have that animation his kit would be overloaded. He already has good wave clear and trades in lane with other mages, so If you choose to engage a trade you should be punished for that.

https://youtu.be/FLG2RPBImdA Here is a great video from blitz esports explaining galio (I have it timestamped to 1:21 where they talk about his weaknesses) explaining galio's kit and why his e is the way it works.

Cheers!

Off-topic and irrelevant. I am not talking about primary engage. You keep telling me things I already know. I am stating flat-out that the dashes of other champions can be used in a multitude of ways, whereas Galio's cannot, PERIOD.

That's kind of the point. It's part of the design, the same way the move can't go through walls.

You get to go in, you don't get to run away.

The design is a stupid one, because there are other champions in the game who have dashes, and can still use them as escape tools if they so choose, and this extends to tanks as well. It is an intentionally unfair design, and it limits the champions agency to act for themselves. If a Malphite gets jumped on by multiple parties, he can use his ultimate to escape, not collide with the person he's trying to get away from and be stopped dead in his tracks.

Whether or not Riot wants me to play it their way or not is irrelevant. The ability isn't fair, it is not consistent with dash design of other champions, be they tanks, assassins, fighters, or ADCs. It is not fair, and it is not okay.

If you're looking for fair, you've come to the wrong game.

The dashes of other champions have nothing to do with Galio. Galio is Galio, other champions are other champions. Galio does not have a reliable escape, but he has a bunch of other things that other champions do not have, including champions like Shen Poppy and Renekton.
