Bruiser Support Meta

I genuinely believe the changes to support items allow for more bruisers (or more champions in general) to be taken as support.

Im curious what supports you're playing or seeing that appear to be at least somewhat viable.

Personally, i'm really enjoying Pantheon support, but admittedly im playing him as more of an aggressive poke / all-in kill style. I've also had lots of success with Swain support. I've made Maokai work, but I also got destroyed in another attempt. I had a success with Nunu, but I feel like that might be hard to do consistently.

What have you played / seen? Or, what are some things you think might work well?

It’s not a bruiser support meta. It just a bruiser meta in general.

They were already crazy strong in s9. Then riot pulled this garbage out of their asses and now they are the only class that matters.

You seem to have taken only the least important points from this post, ... in fact, really just the title.

My point, if I was even trying to really make a point, is that the two support items Steel Shoulderguards and the new version of Relic Shield offer offensive stats where the previous Relic Shield only offered health and sustain. With a direct comparison, this is better for a bruiser than a tank. Also, the fact that you don't need to invest gold into upgrades allows for the support to spend more gold on "non-support" items .. leading to better scaling mid to late game.

What I was actually wanting, was some ideas of who I should try to play more of. I understand that champions like Kled, Riven, Jax, ... are strong. I don't think they would be great supports though.

Granted, .. in the hands of someone who knows how to play them well, pretty much any champion can be effective as a support.

I have always been down to play pantheon support even back in the day. The mans has a point and click stun.

I've played him a lot lately. His Q is great harass, and when the enemy is under 20% health, it's practically an execute.

And his ult allows him to roam mid or rotate with jungle super easy.

As long as there is some kind of CC then I'm ok with these types of supports. You can make a lot of unconventional things work.

I can agree with that. I listed all of the champions without any cc on another comment. In theory, even those still have high enough kill potential that they can just all in and straight up kill the enemy laners or force them out. Death is the best cc after all lol. And of course there is always Glacial Augment and other items that give cc.

I would also look at how some champions really mess with a carry's ability to farm. Lissandra, for example, all of her abilities are AOE, so just trying to harass can sometimes cause her to take minions or at the very least throw off the wave control.

I do run into this sometimes when lobbing spears with Pantheon, .. but to be fair, at my level, most ADCs aren't really good at wave management anyways.

as long as they have cc or kill potential you can bring anything to support, new or old items. bot lane is a cluster fudge, but tops act like vayne going there is sacrilege...

And lets not forget that you can always get cc from Glacial Augment, or from items

Arguably, every champion has "kill potential" and many of these have high kill potential.

So by this logic, literally everyone can be a support, ... but I'm really looking for good ones. You know, ones that I'm not as likely to get flamed for picking in champion select.
