All it does is create a negative blanket over your team. Yes there are times where your team is so far, winning does not seem like a possibility, but surrendering should not be an option at any point in the game. Imagine if all the swimmers in the olympics who raced Michael Phelps just gave up and left. The olympics would suck, Michael Phelps would have probably not broken so many olympic records because he had no one to push him.

There is no option to surrender in sports, because it creates team disunity. Everyone knows how frustrating it is to be working your ass off in a game of hockey lets say, and have half your team want to just quit and go do something else. It creates tension among your team and you perform even worse. I have seen some amazing comebacks in both sports and League.

The option of forfeiting also creates negativity in those who want to quit. They clearly have no interest in the game anymore, and when that happens they only get frustrated and thats when negative behavior, abusive words, etc. start to become prominent.

If you are gonna play a game of League, you are committed to that game. People start to complain about "wasting my time" etc. You joined the que, you play the game.

TL;DR - yeah surrendering only makes people give up hope and become negative. Its frustrating, unsportsmanlike and half the time, you can win most games you surrender (not saying you will, but you can)

Nah I love the surrender vote and disagree with your premise. Sometimes we'll be winning a game and I'll throw up the surrender to piss of my team mates and make them work harder. It rarely, if ever demoralizes my team seeing a surrender vote.

I would think the opposite for a few reasons: Sometimes, your team is getting so wrecked that it's a better option to surrender and move on. As a team, if you're going to lose, obviously, then moving on is a great option. You get to put this game behind you and move on to a game with new champs, new opponents and different situations. I agree that sometimes when you are playing a game and your team wants to surrender, but you think that you can win, it demotivates some people. Other people I have seen make a great comeback and win the game. Just my thoughts. :)

Didn't even read beyond the first sentence. You are a liar, you make yourself out to be the optimistic perfect teammate but you are a liar. I'm not even going to bring up the possibility of an afk because it's not the exclusive reason we have surrender. We have surrender because you some games are just frustrating and even if you can win nobody wants to bother because it's extremely unfun getting your ass kicked.

What lie has he told?

He's giving an opinion, and I can believe that he really has it.

People say everything.

Pretty sure Phelps would get records if everyone quit against him...

Sometimes the enemy team somehow gets a super disproportionate number of kills vs your team's kills by 10 minutes. I'd like to surrender then. Sometimes your -insert role here- is brand new to their champ and accidentally does poor in any number of ways that greatly affects your team's odds of winning. (namely a totally poor build - someone built AP on Rek'Sai and ended up feeding hard just last week) I'd prefer to surrender then. Sometimes you have an AFK right at the 0 minute mark. I'd sure as hell like to surrender right at 10 minutes, then. Sometimes you have a really, horribly negative teammate. I'd prefer a surrender asap, then. Sometimes, your entire team (or at least a goodly portion - 3/5 to 4/5) gets counterpicked and at the 10 minute mark, things look bleak. I'd like to surrender then.

All of these scenarios come to mind, and I'm a positive player (overall - I get crabby, sometimes, but I don't lose my temper) - I've held a ribbon for 200+ consecutive matches. I like having the option to surrender. Shoot, I wish it scaled back in 4-5 minute chunks for each AFK you have!

yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. i could not agree more. I never could have imagined surrendering being as acceptable as it is in league. it amazes me. i typed "surrender" in the search bar hoping to find more posts like this but have only found an overwhelming number of wanting it to be easier to surrender. it absolutely amazes me.Velkoz
