Can someone tell me why I am losing?

I am ironically having trouble with snowballing leads, which leads to me losing games that I did not predict I would lose.

In these recent games:

I was unable to snowball the lead I secured for the team. I got my team ahead at the start of the game yet it never felt enough. I aggressively play a highly objective oriented game, trying to choke the enemy out of any resources possible, establishing total vision control, get gold, etc. and it never seems to matter. A single kill for the enemy team could result in a total reversal. Meanwhile, I see other players get a lead, and snowball it extremely effectively, choking out the enemy from their own jungle, making it that they can't even step outside base without dying, securing a baron, then winning.

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

Can't say anything but it all goes into roaming.

If your playing top lane with TP and you look at bot lane struggling in a two v two, three v two and you question for a brief moment "should I TP", and then late game you lose while your fed but bot lane isn't chances are you should of tpd.

If your playing mid and you notice your enemy laner is MIA, and you have a ideal path in where hes heading (top/bot), you question, "should I follow?" Chances are you should of followed

You are playing jungle and you are questioning "should I be playing more aggressively, or should I just safe farm" chances are you should of played more pro active.

You are playing support, your adc is safe to free farm for a good minute, and you look at mid and question "should I attempt a gank? I got flash and ult up." Chances are you should of done it.

Many players I met in silver and hell even bronze are actually pretty good mechanicly but simply have piss poor judgement, they play safe, they afk farm, they focus to hard on their own lane.

Anyone who made it into higher elo will tell you that they had to go complete man mode and search for constant roams, that they didnt wait for oppurtunities, they made opportunities.

To climb elo you have to be aggressive and pro active

Playing passively is good enough to get you out of bronze but once you reach silver, if you want to continue climbing you have to be one hundred percent pro active.

Watch some smurf youtube videos called "bronze to challenger" You will notice these smurfs are constantly pro active, constantly asking "can I do this" then following up, they are looking for plays, they aren't waiting, they are making.

Basically if you want to climb elo you have to destroy your passive play style and replace it with a aggressive one, a play making one.

Side Note

I also notice your plat a few things I want to comment

-Many people will tell you plat 1 is hella hard to get out of, this is fact, for your now facing the best of the best, diamonds.

-Many plats I know forget everything that got them into plat, and start playing passively again. Kill those bad habits.

-Diamond is quite literally the best of the best, very few people make it into diamond, so to get into diamond you just simply got to be legit good. So practice mechanics, have some diamond friends coach you.

While i would say for most this is true, for me this was not (I got two accounts to diamond 1 playing both as adc main and then support main). Been busy and didn't properly play last season but my experience still stands i believe.

Most i knew would be very pro active however for me I took this as a chance to play even more passive and allow them to make moves, when they do be ready for them - not give them anything.. they in the end make a small mechanical miss play as they are trying very hard to make something happen - at this point I would be aggressive and punish them.

At the time when i was Diamond 1 ( around 40-60 lp without pushing for it) my mechanics, farming and overall objective control (map movements and positioning) are what got me there not being pro active.

I sorta believe what your saying, but I would like to say if you legit got to diamond you were probably more pro active then you give yourself credit for.

Hell just properly pushing minions and keeping a eye on the map is being pro active.

Taking advantage of others mistakes would not be being pro active. You can have map awareness - push correctly and set up the lanes/map in your favor but non of that is pro actively trying to make something happen.

the higher you go the less play making you do and the more abusing of mis-plays. for example a bad player will be pro active and try to roam bot from mid and force a gank/fight. Anything can happen in this situation good or bad. The good player would not be pro active but rather wait for the bot lane to make a mistake (positional etc) and then roam and gank. The lower elo you are the more like play making this looks rather than mistake abusing.

However as a player i would tend not to roam unless it was very clear what would happen. The above is just an example of how in my view a lot of lower elo people view being pro active vs what top tier players tend to see it as.

I'm a secondary support main. I had quite a few failed support games where I get my ADC extremely fed in lane and I still lose. This is despite aggressively warding the enemy jungle when ahead and making sure to keep vision up by keeping up pink wards at all times. The common factor to these games is lack of frontline and/or an enemy hypercarry (outside bot lane) that was not kept in check and somehow allowed to farm. I'm not sure what I could've done as an AP support though.

I think it's my strategy that's failing. I don't think it's mechanics anymore.

I am a s5 plat 1 jungle/support main. I am not silver or bronze, just going to make that clear first.

What I'm trying to do is think of the best ways to play aggressively, not just to play aggressively in general since at my elo failed aggression is heavily punished.

Game 1: I play Shyvana jungle and counterjungle enemy Nautilus hard, secure FB and helped Kassadin secure a quadra. My assumption was that from this point on, Kassadin would be able to snowball along with me and affect side lanes. However our allied GP is unable to land any barrels late game, our Vayne was on heavy tilt and kept flash tumbling forward. I was thinking I had to carry the game, so I bought BoRK instead of going full tank, and I get locked down and melted in teamfights. The buy of BoRK, of course, was a critical mistake. However I don't know what else I could've done at that point.

Game 2: I play Lulu support. I feed my ADC 10 kills, yes, 10 kills in lane. We take bot lane outer and inner. We attempt to group to siege mid but our top keeps fighting in lane and he's our frontline. By the time we realize that Zed and Lee are falling off it was too late and even with a highly fed ADC, we weren't able to stop Ryze and Fizz from wrecking us.

Game 3: I play Brand support. I die in lane. However in teamfights we group and are able to demolish them with AOE and take their mid inhib. Only problem was our ADC never recovered from lane and was unable to output sustained damage and since our comp was 2 full tanks and 2 APs, we were unable to stop their tanks from walking all over us.

Game 4: I play Lulu support. This game made me mad the most. It was solo carried by the enemy Graves. Literally every enemy lane was feeding but because they had Wukong + Graves + Jinx they could explode us whenever they grouped. Our jungler played full glass Riven while we had a Fizz top, making it so that we had zero frontline. Fizz was forced to build tanky but it didn't matter since he couldn't initiate anyhow. Riven was initiating yet she insisted on building full glass despite feeding in teamfights.

Game 5: I play Shyvana jungle. I try to force feed my team kills and force them to go to objectives. It fails and they all die to a GP barrel late game. The end.

The short run view from a few games means little tbh. From my experience either get highly skilled on 2-3 champs which you can get around 65-70% win ratio with (high engage champions such as Malp/Ashe etc) or grind out 55%-60% win rate with non engage focused champs that you enjoy playing which you can play very well consistently.

For 'carrying' one normally needs a champion with proper engage, otherwise a lot of the time you are just along for the ride making sure you don't mess up and lose the game for your team.

game 1

Shyvana JG To be honest you lost in the draft room, your team comp was built to snow ball and split push, never to group, the enemy team out drafted you heavily, at this high a elo that is something you can't allow to happen. You will get punished heavily, and did. BUT things that you could of done better -Focus the bot lane and try to get them fed -Your build path was sub par, you were getting insta deleted by AP carries with near no MR, You didn't even get a cloak till 25:38, at this point the lead you had was already thrown away at 20 mins, as what looks like Lissandra one shotting you with cassiopia with naut to secure the kill -The fact vayne is 3 6 1 and not something like 0 6 like your gangplank tells me she was actually not a bad player, just behind, something should of been done to get her ahead to carry you -The only way you could of won is if your team properly split pushed and used proper minion advantage OR -you had a 5.3 gold lead at 18 minutes, this is MASSIVE, a team fight should of been forced, tower dives should of been done, and towers should be rushed at this point, the lead you had was not abused properly

Game 2 Lu Lu Support You were doomed to lose for Alistar trolled you by building pure AP which caused him to get one shotted every team fight while lee sin built AD hopeing to snow ball a early win Conclusion-Squishy people go boom, Fizz shark goes yum Sorry about this one

Game 3 Brand Support Guarentee loss, not your fault, your adc and tank sej were bloody idiots who obviously did bad engaged, mis positioned and got blown up. meanwhile she also builds a locket against a mostly AD team when flat MR would of been better. I do feel if you found a way to step up, position better you could of carried with ORI and Sion, for they were doing extremely well.

Game 4 Lu Lu Support How are you getting trolled every game with these people doing retarded builds? Are you cursed or something?

Game 5 ..........This viktor must be boosted...another terri bad troll build...seriously god damn dude your unlucky

However I still stick to my word despite what my Diamond Senpai says, I still strongly believe, to climb you have to be pro active, you have to seek opportunities and abuse them, you have to create opportunities and push for them. No one got to diamond/master/challenger (excluding boosted accounts) by playing like a scardy cat.

To be the best you have to

1-Have top tier mechanics 2-Understand how to push for objectives 3-Understand team fight positioning and target priorities to the fullest

And like I said earlier, your in one of the harder elos to get out of, plat

If you want to get to diamond, at this point it's all about practice and perfecting your skills.

Your almost their, good luck

do you have any advice as a fellow plat as to why I'm losing games even when I get my team ahead?

Well, idk. Games can go either way for me. But one thing is for certain, the games where i'm not carried by my team, the game is dependent on me. If I don't seek out plays, they will likely not happen. I play with plat and diamond 5 bordered people btw. If i'm not awfully behind then it's roaming anywhere I can.

I'm still learning myself so that can either fuck us up or put us ahead. Then it comes down to, what do you do once you have that lead? ~~If you're getting your team ahead why is it that you're losing? Still, keep in mind that not every game is winnable.

Make the calls on what to do. it's one of the things that got me up here. I'm confident I can reach diamond this season, it's not looking as hard as I thought.

Sigh, I guess for me it was the opposite. Once I hit plat 1 I couldn't hit diamond. It was a massive wall at plat 1 50 LP. I got to that last June and was bouncing between plat 1 and 3 for the rest of the year and finished in plat 1. Good luck on your climb, the last 50 LP are the worst.

I think that it is true that roaming everywhere once ahead is a good strategy. It is still very possible to lose essentially 4v5s in this elo just because of poor coordination in teamfights or because of fighting at the wrong time/place (the enemy reached a power spike even if you're ahead in gold) so roaming spreads the risk out and enables your teammates to help carry.

I'm also beginning to realize why people build full tank on junglers in high elo so frequently even when ahead, unlike lower elos who just build damage.

BluePolarizer1 votes

thanks for the advice. it seems that I either get trolled or my entire team gets outpicked. guess I should've gone full tank instead of buying bork that game to tower dive more effectively since shyvana has enough damage with just sated devourer.
