Over and over again I see Jayce being picked for top lane. I have yet to see a Jayce win their lane in worlds, and ive only seen one Jayce game where they actualy win the game which was SKT vs FW. So why keep playing him? I main Jayce but hell there is much better options out there other than him.

, this fucker is the reason worlds is fucked... he was so dominate top lane, and having his hard counters being :
takes away his range which is his main power, has easier cc and has harder burst while being fairly safe with his W.
POKE and burst, while having ranged capabilities to stop his harass, and his knockback can save lives.
this guy forces him to build 
over his core cancer 
so it lowers his power spike or else he gets face rolled by his flamespitter.
And now that gnar is kinda out of the picture, the ones that beat the top picks are being picked flat out, bringing a very well rounded champion, range, poke, burst, sustained damage, melts turrets. However he is so high skillcap that even pros mess up on him. and seeing as mid lane is REQUIRED to be a mage that has lots of burst, he kinda has to be top lane for worlds in most respects where mid could fit better among the masses.

I was seriously surprised at the Jayce picks. It hasn't worked and Gnar or Trundle would have accomplished the same thing and done more. I think it's just pro's overreacting to the Gnar nerfs.
I've always had the most success with Jayce at mid as he can deal with both ranged and melee champs and doesn't have to try and chop down the tanks piece by piece.

They had nearly a month of boot camp prior to worlds. They wouldn't pick jayce unless they had some merit to it. (it's not just an over reaction.) I wouldn't even really consider Jayce a good substitute for gnar. Even though they are both due form hybrids, Gnar is almost always a Tank, or Tanky bruiser, while Jayce fills the siege/Burst role.
But the part that makes me sad, even if the Jayce pick at worlds left something to be desired. He is already on everybody's radar, and people are already sick of him. probably since his new build hops on the Armor pen band wagon. But given that that is being looked at in the Assassin update, there's a good chance that it won't last.

Sasogwa1 votesit's not about just being safe. Jayce is broken, that's it. He automatically wins every trade toplane, is ranged, has insane burst and good poke. It's not because you seem him getting ganked that he's weak. I can't understand how you can be so blind as to think that he's not broken. People never pick balanced/weak champions in competitive. They just pick the strongest champs.
