I want Scarra and/or other Ex Pro Players to lead the Riot Balancing Team

Or at least be part of it. I think they are more than qualified to throw their two cents in there.

Hiring someone for this position who has a huge passion about this game and still actually plays it a lot should be a requirement as well.

scarra himself said that balancing the game is hard and that he's not sure he would be able to do it

I think that's the right mindset for a balance team member.

No one can perfectly balance the game, and I don't think anyone expects that. It's more about knowing what is and isn't good for League in terms of metas and play patterns. The current balance team just doesn't seem to understand that, at all.

While i dont think flat hiring challenger players is a good idea... (Hashinshin as a balance team member? gag), i do think that the top 100 players in each region SHOULD be a part of the decision making process the next season. It would be as simple as sending out a newsletter to challenger players at the end of each season "Hey guys you wanna be consultants since youre not only good at the game, but understand it from a perseptive we dont? Click the link below and accept the legal thing that covers our butts and punishes you for leaking info!" And then riot sets them up into groups based on their main position, and calls them in to confference calls every so often to talk about the state of their role, what can be done, and their overall feel about game health.

It will never happen though. It requires WAY to much coordination on riots part and... They dont respect the content creators, or the players, that make their game popular. Just go look for the nightblue3 "why i hate riot" story; If a HEAD PERSON of anything has the gall to reach out to someone and bail on them three separate times without notice, the company is not a good one.

I'm more talking about the mature and thoughtful players like Scarra, not toxic asshats like Hashinshin. Your idea is solid as well for what it's worth. I agree that neither will ever happen though.

Bet you dollars to donuts people like hashinshin would bitch and moan when they heard some challenger players were talking to riot about balance and game health on a regular basis though.

Hashinshin is going to bitch and moan no matter what.

I'd rather not.

Sure, it seems like a good idea, but at the end of the day they honestly have no real idea how to balance it. Sure, they may have the idea needed to balance part of the game, but they cannot actually balance it better than professionals can.

I think using them as parts of the team would be a great idea. Scarra in particular is a good example since he's been playing since very early in LoL's existence and has a good feel for what LoL is supposed to be. In particular I think those kinds of players would be very good as testers, who could offer feedback on changes after playing a bunch of games with them.
