The live balance team might actually be doing a great job
If LOG is correct in their numbers, somehow the live balance team managed to pull of an interesting trick. There are at the moment 144 champs in the game. Totally gross, right? Anyways you'd expect the 50% win rate champ to be somewhere around the 72nd spot on the win rate sort list. The 4 champs who are at 50% win rate are in the 85th to 88th slot. This is more than 10% later than you'd expect to see them appear. While LOG might be wrong, the number of popular champs below a 50% win rate makes them at least plausible, with yuumi, akali, and yasuo being the biggest offenders.
Another interesting fact is that right now only about 25 champs are below a 49% win rate. 11 of those are at 48% which still isn't terrible. Considering they have to deal with 144 champs, the fact that 5/6ths of the roster, including the off meta picks, are at least competitive is a good sign of the balance of the game.
So yeah, I think the live balance team is doing its job pretty well. If you were to randomly decide on a champ to main, the fact you are more likely to find one with a winning percentage than not is in your favor. More champs are climbing right now than not. This means we finally have proof of one thing we've all long suspected: the match making system really is out to get you in your promos. Also, the number of popular champs with a low win rate really makes me question some of the player base.
Looking at you Ez mains. This is what happens when you force riot to nerf all the things you break in game.
