Why is Morello's CDR unique when BC isnt?

Because 6 cleaver is awful (or at least suboptimal), but 6 morello would be broken.

Ryze agrees

Ryze would do less damage with 6 Morellos than he would with his current Meta., which involves about the same Mana, with about 250 more AP, and more HP.

It's not suboptimal with Transcendence. Each Cleaver gives 64 AD, 400 HP, 20% CDR (counting toward the cap). That's + 384 AD, (530AD+ on Zed) which on most melees puts them over 500 AD, + 2400 HP (4409 HP on Zed), and max CDR.

That's not OP to have higher than tank HP on a 530 AD assassin?

Let's compare what Morello would do:

No HP gain. 2400 Mana (not game breaking) 600 AP + 160 AP (Transcendence) = 760 AP.

So. AD gets a 4400 HP 500+ AD champ vs a 2000 HP 760 AP Mage.

And you're saying the Morello would be OP? I'm sorry, but AP is supposed to scale about DOUBLE AD to compensate for not relying on autos. 760 is lackluster on a mage, and being vs a 500 AD 4400 both soaks all a mage's damage PLUS deals 1-2 hit kills to the 2k hp mage.

Each Cleaver gives 64 AD

No the first cleaver gives 40 ad, the second one gives 52 ad, and any past that give 64 ad. This makes the total ad +348 (469 on Zed without counting ult).

That's not OP to have higher than tank HP on a 530 AD assassin?

No it isn't, missing all the passives from other items makes 500+ ad worse (especially since black cleavers are more gold than other items). As for the HP, it might be great in bronze through low gold where the enemy team won't build %hp damage or pick champions with it on their kits innately. You'll find that %hp damage shreds anyone with that much hp and no resistances to back it up.

2400 Mana (not game breaking)

Ryze Tell me how it isn't game breaking?

I'm sorry, but AP is supposed to scale about DOUBLE AD to compensate for not relying on autos

This is just wrong, AP typically scales about 1.6:1 with AD. You conveniently left base ad factored in, in your comparison when most ad assassins scale off bonus ad. If you take that out you'd get 348 ad on Zed vs 760 ap so it is much more efficient than it even should be.

760 is lackluster on a mage, and being vs a 500 AD 4400 both soaks all a mage's damage PLUS deals 1-2 hit kills to the 2k hp mage.

1-2 hit kill a mage xD Maybe if they built full glass cannon.

  1. Semantics My other posts take that into account.

    1. It's an assassin meaning they don't stay in a fight. 2) How is Black Cleaver more expensive than: Maw of Malmortius, Bloodthirster, Death's Dance, Infinite Edge, Edge of Night? The only items a BC is more expensive than (and only by 100g) are Youmuu's, and Duskblade. Literally every other assassin item is more expensive.
  2. Ryze's damage comes FAR more from AP scaling than from Mana (Mana damage only attributing 2-4% of mana to damage). It's part of his build, but going CDR doesn't outscale the base. Furthermore, Ryze's kit already offers that Mana: 400 : Morello X1 400: Frozen heart 400 Rod of Ages, 1000 Seraph's = Same mana as they have on meta build. The morello would offer more than the Frozen Heart, and more AP than the RoA, but loses HP, and Eternity Spam.

  1. Almost every mage does not use their base AD scaling and they get no base AP scaling, so including base AD is important.

Zed example: 4 BC + Duskblade + Shoes: ( 100% CDR reduction)

121 Base + 72 + 40 + 40 + 40 + 40 + 55 + 15 + 18 = 441 AD. (320 Bonus)

Furthermore, Zed gains AD from his highest AD target (suppose a 400 AD adc), or 60 more AD. That puts him around 380 AD to deal with, and that's just bonus AD.

One combo alone will deal:

Ult: 441 > Q (567 + 421) + Auto (441+ 320 [Duskblade]) + E (474) + Ult final (1000) = a whopping total of 3,664 damage. And, the build still has 30 Lethality, and will proc the 24% reduction to armor as well, so a significant portion of that damage goes through.

It still 1 shots a full HP adc, most supports, and most mages, with 3629 HP Zed. And it almost 1 shots a tank.

  1. You didn't actually read the comparison. it was a Morello transcendence vs a Black Cleaver transcendence. A Morello Transcendence would have 2000 hp. A BC transcendence has 4k+, and there aren't many mages who can pure pop that.

  2. I'm not an advocate of making Morellos Stackable. i think Black Cleavers need to be Unique Passive, and EVERY 20% CDR be a Unique Passive. For example, (although not that feasible) an Ornn game could build 2 trinities, Or a Tank can Spam Frozen Hearts (Rammus, Malph) Another not so viable stack is Iceborne, but it's not as significant as Morello/Frozen Heart/Black Cleaver.

You do realize that Unique passive simply means 2 of the same items cannot have the same passives activate. You can still build a Frozen heart and an iceborne and both CDR's proc, because it's not 2 Frozen Hearts.

Because Morellos stacking is actually good and cleaver stacking isn't

It was a thing for a short time before Riot changed it to unique CDR

Azadethe1 votes

It is NOT as good anymore. Transcendence makes the Black Cleaver a better stacker by far.

6cleaver zed is garbage lol

ZephyrDrake2 votes

when are people going to stop pretending that 6 cleavers is actually a viable thing? you don't get much out of it when you compare it to everything else you could be spending your gold with. You are literally just gaining more AD with some HP... no resistances, no extra passives/actives, no extra stats like MS or crit or anything like that. Just more AD and HP. Yes you can cap your CDR but you can also cap your CDR building other more useful items as well

Azadethe1 votes

"Some HP?" it's +2400 HP on a 64 AD item with CDR. it's putting Bruisers on the same level of AD as they were, but with a hell of a lot more HP.

I've seen a 4600 HP Lee Sin with 515 AD doing it.

yes some HP, you have no resistances so you will be shredded just as quick and take a lot of damage from %HP based attacks that are all over the place. Sorry but you can have a bunch of AD but it doesn't matter if you still blow up the same regardless. Good luck getting to 6 cleavers in a game without being completely demolished by everything.

Azadethe1 votes

It depends on the Champ. A Lee sin isn't in a fight long enough to be "shredded" He Ins, and then he outs. A Zed Ins, and then he outs.

Not every AD abuser is someone who stays in a fight for 5 seconds to take the punishment needed to blow through 4k + hp. Some champs also scale both to AD and HP, which puts them in a unique position. (Darius scales to both, and would still get 12 AD from subbing one for a Spirit visage to boost the heals, and on his Passive proc, would have 680 AD)

The only champs your argument really works for, is those who buy 2 AD items and then build tank.

Let me tell you something. I've played Sion as part of my core since his rework. He does not NEED Armor to be tanky. Sion can purely build offensive, still have 4k HP, and he can do his job and get out before there is a need to be tanky, because of his massive load of cc. A 3-4 Black Cleaver build works GREAT on Sion, because both his Ult and Q proc, and they scale so large to AD that the two result in a 2 hit KO.

And no. a Lee sin doesn't get demolished on 4 Black cleavers. That's the point. I'm used to pure countering a Lee Sin, and them feeding hard on meta builds. They don't feed on this build. They go 12/0 before they ever get checked, and by then they've taken your team out so much that the rest of his teammates are a factor from out farming. Regular Lee Sins don't do that on meta builds unless their opponents are horrible.

I really suggest you go try it on Sion or Lee if you're proficient with them. It's insane.

yeah i am going to user a terrible build on some champions because it might someone be good. No

6 Cleavers is bad. The game ends way before you even get to 6 cleavers and even then i would rather get a bunch of lethality or something else if i want to do damage since i would actually get something out of it instead of nothing but raw HP and AD

Azadethe1 votes

Try it or don't offer an opinion, since you're not willing to actually test it. I'm not even saying 6 BC. I'm saying try 3-4 with a couple core items (Warrior, Boots) In a 30 min game a multi BC lee has no problem building them.

JavelinJoe1 votes

It was not a while back and stacking them was really good for easy 40% CDR on mages. Stacking BC should not be allowed too, but it is by far better than if morello could be stacked.

For example, getting 5 morello will get you a bonus 60 CDR, but also a gain of 2000 mana and 500 AP. 5 BCs get you a bonus 60 CDR, and also 2000 HP and 200 AD (not counting transcendence bonus) But with Morello's you can grab a item 3040 and gain a ton more because you scale the 2k mana. Its also 500g cheaper than 5 BCs.

5 Morellos and a Seraph = 102 AP on Seraphs, + 580 AP = 682 AP. + 120AP Transcendence = 802 AP. Lackluster compared to other options, and offers no HP.

Atm Black Cleaver offers 4400 HP and 515 AD, which scales far stronger than 802 AP does on a 2k HP build.

Why would u stack morrelos anyways? It doesn't have the health gain that BC has. I feel like, you just want something to complain about.....

Cause an aram consisting of Ryze item 3040 item 3165 item 3165 item 3165 item 3165 item 3165 sounds extremely fun

Azadethe1 votes

Ryze gets a better return if he turns one of those morellos into a death cap, one into a void staff.

Critmaster Garen1 votes

because of Azir

remember when his w scaled with attack speed and he stacked morellos for a massive power spike? i think they added it back then. not entirely sure.

meanwhile no one has stacked cleavers since season 3 so it was just not neccessary. still isnt imo.

Transcendence adds 24 AD per cleaver. Do the math. 4400 HP + 515 AD champs.

well yea. but its a tradeoff. youre gaining 24 ad (12 ad for the second cleaver) for the gold value of the cdr, rage passive and armor shred passive.

people did the math. its pretty much the same worth in gold.

Don't know any equivalent AD items that give HP /64 AD and cap out 40% CDR in the first 2 items. In fact, the only HP AD item is a Frozen Mallet, which only has 30 AD, and a trinity, which is a unique item that's not purely an AD item.

item 3053

and you get the shield passive and the tenacity.

item 3022 only gives 30 ad but 700 health.

item 3748 gives 35 ad, 450 health and about 30 to 40 on hit damage.

They don't give CDR. And, they all lack the AD, except Steraks which on some champs is a late game + 77 AD.

stacking cleavers doesnt give cdr either after the second one. and that second already only gives you 10%.

2 BC = CD cap + 10% for 6000g. There is no other combination of complete items in the game that gives that.

The next best is a Morellonomicon + a Sheen and a Codex ( 4,850 ) for a slight boost in AP and a doubling of basic damage.

After 1 1/2 BC's it's all bonus AD (52 for the first one 64 for after; no frozen mallet hydra does that)
