I give credit to you top mains
Played top. Was 3-0. Look at scoreboard, it's like 3-6 and we've already lost 2 dragons and my team is blaming me for it lol.
Top doesn't feel like it has very much impact.

Top lane without comms is basically like playing a solo game. You still have to be spending 75% of your focus on watching everywhere else on the map, just for the tiny chance you'll find a play to make that will keep your team from throwing, but if they aren't actively setting up plays for you in advance, you aren't going to be much use to them.
In alot of ways, Top really doesn't have much impact until you can start roaming, from my experience. The other two who have already commented here said pretty much all that needs to be said, but there may be more we can clarify.
With the way things currently are, you have to have
, or else you're not going to have any impact/threat to the enemy team whatsoever. Especially if you're like me, the kind of player who has his or her set of preferred champs to play in the Top-lane and doesn't just go with the FOTM champs up there.
That means, the champs I play don't have the greatest mobility or CC, but have POWER once they get their traction going. But the problem is, games are so snowbally and end so quickly I oftentimes can't get to that point where I can really start putting the pressure on unless I get astronomically-fed early on by my lane opponent and the JG if they come up Top.
I often tell my team-mates this at the start of games:
"OK, I can TP in to help where needed, but I'm going to need a ward or something to TP to! All the pings for assistance in the world aren't going to help me get there faster if I don't have something to TP to!"
The overall thing is, like the others have said, when your the Top-Laner, you're pretty much on your own except when windows of opportunity to make game-changing plays present themselves.
because it doesnt. your impact is your TP. In decent elo a good tp early game atm can decide the game but in a bit lower elo top is pretty much useless unless you make the enemy laner ragequit. And in overall slower games top doesnt have much impact unless it's a cc bot like Mao/Naut. considering carry lanes cant do jack shit with how overpowered exhaust is and on top of that the rise of ap supports that you are forced to build an entire mr tank item even if their midlane is like 0-15 because somehow supports do more dmg than midlaners atm.
