When Quinn goes top you don't say OMG, it's not top Quinn it's ADC Quinn. Riot may not call it adc in their client, but for a lot of the player base it's easier to say ziggs adc because he's the one that will be farming all of the gold and they have been marksman for so long that the position has been named after them. If you call it APC ziggs you won't know if he's top mid or bot because the term isn't used that often.
