Is my friend being a jerk?

I have a friend who hit Diamond 5 on his main account and on occasion we'll play together on his smurf account. Basically I'm just trying to climb the ladder, we both just recently hit Gold 2 and we're slowly making our way towards plat.

However there's one thing that my friend does that legitimately irritates me to no end. He flat out says that he uses his smurf for practicing new things (in ranked). He hates playing norms. So he'll flat out learn a new champion in ranked. Henceforth Kayn. And he won't play his best character because he flat out states he needs the practice (regardless how he does)

What is pissing me off, is how his mindset is. It's his smurf account, so even if he loses it won't really effect him since he's already diamond on his main.

Am I wrong for being a little miffed at how he does things? Or should I just accept it as it is?

Just accept it. Some champions like draven or fiora might be good to practice at least one normal game on to learn mechanics, but for most champions, if they have the game knowledge, they'll know how to properly use it.

Tell your friend to screw off and never associate with them again.

Also this is better for Player Behavior I reckon.

The way i see it is, whether its your friend not playing at 100% or its an actual gold 2 player playing at his best.. its going to be similar skill.. I don't think you have a very strong case for being angry. If you dislike it so much, stop duoing with him. But from his point of view, there is no point of playing his mains in Gold 2..

Him using his smurf to learn other things is perfectly fine as long as he is applying himself which to me it sounds like he is. What exactly about it bothers you? That you arn't guaranteed a boosted win?

You really shouldn't believe in those silly horos. I'm born on February.

well i wouldn't play my main on my smurf too.

using it to practice new champions is not wrong. it isn't his job to boost you to plat.

and if i win/lose on my smurf wouldn't affect me that much either, as it is not my main.

I mean you get to duo with a Diamond on his smurf lol, he should simply be better then the high golds/low plats you'll play with in ranked that him being on a new champion shouldn't really effect his play to much.

When I was trying to get better at top (cause I never really played top during my 4 year career due to my friends I normally always playing with being top laners (like 3 of em, 1 only plays top, and 2 of em will fill but started at top) and I've always been our mid laner. So I played on my roommates account who was B5 and I just played top till I got him to B1 (didn't want to get him to silver because he should achieve that on his own). This wasn't even that long ago, about when Cam came out, so I just played Renek, Cam, and Fiora and just dumperstered people who were mechicancally better then me at top with the fact I can out cs, and just have better knowledge of the game. Obviously this example isn't the same cause Gold against bronzes is just easy compared to Diamond vs Plats.

I think every high elo player does this... if you try to learn a new champ on your main in ranked you auto lose, if you try to learn it in norms, you learn nothing because norms are 90% trolls. Besides unless he got to that elo his smurf is in playing his main, he's obviously still able to hold his own with his macro alone and not requiring heavy knowledge of the champ itself, or his smurf would not be at that elo.

Its like right now my main is Ivern and its gotten me to plat 2, I can play lots of other champs and would like to for fun, but I still want to climb and I know I cant carry as hard on other champs.

yes he is being a jerk...

No he's not, for a high elo, lower elos is the best place to learn a new champ. Even with the handicap of not knowing his champ he will probably be better than most in your elo

well I think it's fine to play other champs on your smurf, BUT in ranked you are screwing your team. I'm in silver and I see golds do this ALL the time. I HATE having Golds on my team because they don't take it seriously and just mess around. And at the very least if he's playing with you, he shouldn't "try" new stuff. Every loss for you is much worse than it is for him.
