The battle against Assassins
So, assassins are strong. They're powerful. They're deadly and more snowball-heavy than ever.
But you know, there's a lot of items and builds and comps made to make the assassin's life a living hell. Assassins are not unstoppable with these comps and builds, and here are a few comps that are almost certain to put the assassin on tilt.
I'm pretty sure there have been item synergy before, but I don't ever remember there being this much synergy before. For example:
with
and
/
on top of
All work to giving you crazy heals and shields.
(Real quick, do the unique passives of Mikaels and Redemption/Ardent stack? Since one gives 20% and the other gives 10%? Does that count to them having different unique passives? Please let me know!)
Here are a few builds I've found really works in protecting your team in that crucial mid/late game "Protect the squishies" team fight.
Leona/Alistar/Tahm (literally any tanky support)
Keystone: Bond of Stone
Items:
And throw on any resistances needed.
Janna/Karma/Lulu/Soraka
Keystone: Windspeaker's Blessing
Items:
,
,
,
or
(if they stack with Mikael's passive) ,

Let's do a little math shall we? We're going to simplify the math down to the most basic of answers, disregarding any extra variables. So we'll just say Death Dance is a 15% damage reduction for sake of the math.
Lets say the ADC has
15% damage reduction from Death Dance and 12% from the Phantom Dancer. From JUST those two items alone, they have a 27% damage reduction from magic and physical. (Can't remember if True Damage goes through % reduction or not)
Let's add Bond of Stone to that as well, that's an extra 6% redirected from the carry. Bringing 27% up to 33%. So we'll add a Knight's Vow as well and that gives us 12%. Increasing the 33% to a whopping 45% damage reduction altogether. Let's just throw in a Maokai ultimate too while we're at it. Adding an extra 20% to that 45%, increasing it to 65% reduction. That's disgusting.
While it's very true that assassins are incredibly powerful, the "project the carry" comp has also increased in power as well.
