Honestly, Malzahar could be fixed with one thing

  • Step 1 - Revert the rework.
  • Step 2 - Make his ultimate a skill shot that stops at the first enemy champion hit. Give it extra range to compensate.

BOOM. Trashy rework scrapped and ult given more counterplay.

The rework will be reverted when Riot deletes Fiora and Lee sin (never)

Even without the skillshot, there were champions which had counterplay in their kit to the ult, it just required you to actually play around him on champions who normally don't play around anything. Then outside of that they had QSS, if your team couldn't reliably interrupt him.

If you really look at the rework, they didn't add anymore counterplay to the champions which were forced to buy QSS pre-rework, all they did was gut AD malzahar and take the ability to control when you burst a target, away from the malzahar player.

How about just reverting the rework?

Step two just makes Malzahar safer during ult and/or if he fails to land it he is in a safe position due to the farther range.

I don't see why his Ult needs counter play when you have Fizz Ults and Annie Ults and Zed Ults that land and totally crush you.

Any cheap QSS purchase ruins his ult completely (including the damage for those not in the know).

What Malzahar needs to return to competitive play, is to have it so that IF the Suppress of his ult gets unterrupted, it converts into a slow for the remainder. Otherwise, its GAME OVER at high Elo.
