ModWulf Helhammer2 votesWhen I played him, that was always my rush item. Gave damage to threaten targets, mana to spam, and health for his shield. Plus after they had the mage update, it gives him sustain (!!)

SpecterVonBaren23 votesNaut's Q isn't like Blitzcrank's. Naut's Q makes him and the enemy he hooks meet halfway, and it doesn't go through terrain. It doesn't have the power to be worth maxing, especially since you'd use it then be on top of an enemy with two weak skills to use while waiting for his Q to come back up.
ModCaptainMårvelous5 votesAdding to this but often Naut can often be a support, top laner or jungler. In any of those situations, you're probably maxing W (For the shield/survivability) or E (for clearing, pushing and/or more CC).
As an additional comparison, Thresh often maxes E first over his hook for the sake of having more auto-power and slow on flay. Well, either that or I've been playing thresh wrong.

Weiss Guertena3 votesIronically enough, Thresh used to have that auto-power on Q and Riot switched it around specifically because they didn't want him maxing hook first. And with a good reason too: load too much power on a hook-like ability and you have "flash or die" situation like Blitz.
And now they are doing the opposite with Naut, buffing hook several times after multiple nerfs to his other abilities. I just don't get it.

TotalJerk2 votesThe cooldown scales hard with rank. It goes from 18 seconds down to 10 at rank 5. Throw some CDR on that and he has hooks for days.

A cool idea for a buff I would like to see is possibly a small mana refund when Nautilus successfully hooks an enemy unit. This would be a nice boost to add that helps players who are consistently hitting hooks and in a sense be a less abusive version of the cdr Thresh gets for hooking champions. I personally find it a bit frustrating that Thresh is the only hook champion who is rewarded for landing a hook beyond the intended cc that the spell already provides. Since Naut has been struggling for a long time now and it seems they want to buff his Q, offer a reward for landing it on an enemy.
SooFr0sty5 votesI believe that Thresh's hook CD was increased to 18 from 15 then the 3 sec refund was added. Basically making it if you hit someone, it didn't matter for the nerf.

SpecterVonBaren2 votesWith the way the PBE works, when it comes to commenting on stuff on it you can't wait, you have to say something early or else there won't be enough time for them to change or experiment with anything. You've noticed it too right? They do most of their changes in the first week of a pbe cycle and then remove or lock in changes after that (probably to look for potential bugs due to those changes) with additional experimenting being held off until the next pbe cycle.

The title of your thread doesn't say "Naut's buff on PBE isn't helpful", it says "I am informing people that Naut has a buff on PBE". You gotta say what you mean in the title if you want to get the right people looking at your ideas.

They usually save pre-season for major changes and we're rolling up on it, tank junglers/tops have been meta for a while after Naut/Galio ate nerfs so they're probably going to do blanket nerfs to the class and it might indirectly bump Nautilus up in the tank class.
Personally tho if I wanted a buff in the short term, more shield value or lower cd on shield would be better. W has high damage over time as long as you still have the shield up, if it has less base than before but you can have more shields I think thats a fair way to keep in him the tank role.

The health % and base health value go up with the damage at all ranks. The E is pretty much unchanged.
He wasn't broken back then when his bread and butter spell was half decent. He won't magically become broken now when it becomes so again

No seriously though. Don't discount the potentiality this gives Q max. It lets him both hook and maneuver more. Even if it doesn't directly correlate to top lane or even jungle power. It's great for support though I guess! Though not really all that great I suppose..

I feel like buffing his Q is the wrong direction completely, and obviously they want to keep his E in check.

SpecterVonBaren1 votesHhm.... That's actually not too bad a buff. It means we can use iit to get around the map faster which is a big buff for jungle Naut but doesn't really impact lane Naut. It also is in play from the first rank of the ability so it's not a non issue in this meta of early game snowballing.
