Goodbye Malzahar ☹️

I no longer recognize you as the champ I fell in love with back in season 4.

I played your new kit and was surprised and dissapointed in how all the damage was loaded into the new voidlings.

A toxic new passive to boot as well.

Space Aids now feels like space cold.

The damage and silence on landing your Q has been gutted for a gimmicky refresh of space cold.

Ult damage severely gutted, but hey you get another refresh!

All in favor of voidlings.

The voidlings that are obviously the source of the problem in the new rework, yet you stubbornly push onto us.

That were changed and nerfed multiple times since the rework.

Taking away his ability to hardpush a lane.

No longer able to jungle at all now.

I wouldn't even dare to pick him mid anymore.

But hey at least his newfound home in botlane should still be ok.

A role that only trolls would play before patch 6.23!

Rocking that 47% winrate.

All in favor of voidlings.

But hey lets buff Lux.

Who is now nearing 50% with 6 times the pickrate in mid.

Riot are you even trying?

You don't even acknowledge that there is a serious problem with the rework.

Just that you are increasing counterplay.

At the cost of deleting Malzahar mid.

All in favor of voidlings.

None of us Malzahar mains ever asked for this.

I thought small scope updates were meant to preserve the feel of a champ.

Like how you treated Annie.

But you look to the side as you toss Malzahar into the trashbin.

Hoping no one will notice.

So that one day you will take him back out.

Whenever you feel that it is right.

To try again.

Instead of reverting the rework like you did with Kogmaw.

Because of voidlings.

Legends foretold of a time when a malz ult actually did damage

I'm a support main but he was my go to mid champion since season 1 (!). He was the closest we could get to some sort of Warlock mage, opening void portals, applying DOTs and summoning void creatures. I hate his rework. Not only did they gut his damage so hard that he is now forced into support (in theory I should like this, but it feels so wrong) but also tried to make him into a voidling spammer (similar to the old Yorick). The voidlings are so random and unreliable that it drains all the fun. RIP Malzahar S1-S6

Malz was one of my go to picks for mid, not anymore though. Better off with Swain or Vlad tbh.

Hammermancer4/26/2017, 4:07:19 PM10 votes

I could live with the voidlings if they actually made them viable in exchange for nerfing his entire kit outside of the ult

Like... anyone who isn't retarded can just kill the voidlings.....

Goodbye malzahar and I hope I never see you again

I always hated Malzahar. Why? Space aids? No, that was a pretty cool DOT effect. Silence? No that was a unique spell that required a new kind of counterplay. Voidlings? I ignored them for the most part as some gimmicky passive. If I had to worry about them then he had to worry about going oom. It was his ult. The surprise cc that meant certain death to anyone without qss. When I heard he was getting a rework I was like "scrap his voidlings and give his ult more counterplay"

Then they reworked him, and they didn't hurt his ult. They even gave him a passive that made him even more of an ult bot. Still a point and click cc that you have to spend 1300g and an item slot to counter. And those voidings? Suddenly central to his kit. Really? I never thought of him as a minionmancer, but as a cc-reliant battlemage that focused on locking out 1 carry and changing the dynamic of teamfights.

All in favor of voidlings. None of us Malzahar mains ever asked for this.

Not quite true. When that big 'Malz main feedback' thread was going, there was a lot of ideas that wanted the voidlings to be more prevalent because they wanted Malzahar to be more of a 'void leader'.

There were also some that insisted he had other themes available but that one DID exist and WAS asked for by some.

Theorex4/27/2017, 5:21:14 AM6 votes

I literally have been saying this from the beginning when they said that they were going to rework him.

I called it when I saw the rework and played it on PBE.

I knew what was going to happen when I saw him on the Pro Scene

But still nothing hurts as much as watching Riot fuck up your favorite champions over and over again.

Then blame it on the power the put into a skill, then say that that skill is too toxic for gameplay in another lane.

Overall, riot did too great of an injustice to too many Malzahar mains.

I know that majority of the people with Malzahar in their names are done with that champion.

Played him since Season 3. Hated new malzahar, but was really good with him because its not hard to still use the same skills in the same order.

Riot deemed that since they fucked up a rework instead of unfucking it and reverting the champion to what it once was; they would just leave it in the trashcan.

They like a certain type of cancerous play vs not liking a certain type of cancerous play.

Ex. of Cancerous play they like.

Unlimited Dashes with very very low Requirements. (Yasuo)

Full to Zeroing someone off of one stun. (Annie/Syndra)

5 Second Untargetable Skills (Fizz)

Invisibility (Sorry I can't buy Pink wards anymore because I have 6 items)

Being able to build a bunch of AD items because there isn't a weak side to AD itemization.

They don't have to go into stasis and wait. They get a shield that gives him other buffs. They get lifesteal (not that spellvamp was really good for any of the other champions anyways). They get QSS. They get damage outside of their Skills (everyone forgets that, that is a thing. If a mage is on CD, vs a Zed on CS Zed will win.) If a mage against any AD champion late game is on CD. The AD champion will win 99% of the time.

But no. Riot decided that, Ryze was busted because of Comp play. Malz was busted because they just didn't like him.

Its hard to want to continue playing this game when in 6-7 months time.

Your favorite champion gets shit on.

The other champion you practiced from release gets shit on.

Like why play anything other than Yasuo at this point?

And nothing of value was lost.

Just a hint, I saw similar posts when WOW players got frustrated like this too, and it is the same person who was the game lead designer in charge of WOW, now in charge of LOL.

Why not revert?

AwesomeGuyDj4/26/2017, 7:43:14 PM3 votes

I neva played old malz, and im unranked (most likely bronze) but i play malz mid, and really like playing him. But again, bronze, could probably take fucking eve mid and do well.

Vectros4/27/2017, 8:24:42 PM3 votes

Malz was the only mid I enjoyed playing. Now I don't mid anymore.

Fucking hate Riot's rework on him more than anything. Unnecessary and not unwanted.

deadlychuck4/26/2017, 5:12:34 PM2 votes

Actually the actual DPS of his Q is about the same as pre-rework, they dropped the CD from 9 seconds to 6. Which i'm actually find with. The E base damage nerf is what really hurts though, even with the refresh, they dropped it's based damage by 25 per rank.

Really all of his problems come from the unreliability of his R damage and the inconsistency of his W.

If they'd just revert the voidlings to a pack (1-3) instead of a swarm and give them normal health back, they'd probably fix a lot of problems. Who knows, maybe they can actually give us what AD malzahar players were actually asking for, different ways to scale your voidlings other than raw AD and armor pen... that's all we really wanted.

It'd be cool if they'd scale with attack speed, crit, or lifesteal too. Though riot doesn't seem to understand that this health system is really only good when it comes to wards.

There's 2 kind of champions Riot has:

Those that they take into account how they can have counterplay.

Those that they take into account how they can circumvent their counterplay.

Malz is the first category, otherwise known as "not allowed to be competitive".

YoungSirJ0ey4/27/2017, 3:28:25 PM2 votes

Out of curiosity, what makes Malz so bad mid now?

ElfOfTheDesert4/27/2017, 2:09:22 AM2 votes

I just fought a mid Malz, and he wrecked us. So if you're good with him you can still do just fine. So guess you're not :p

Standgrounding4/27/2017, 4:02:00 PM1 votes

Malzahar could only be great again if his Voidlings had stats of Super Minion...

warmcorntortilla4/28/2017, 4:19:11 PM1 votes

It'd be nice if they would just let... us... direct them again. Like, they're SO un-interactive, and boring. They are easily swatted down. Nothing's more frustrating than when I summon a voidling, the champion my voidling was chasing moves into fog of war, and then my voidling decides that now is the time to start attacking drake/baron.

They are soooo useless. He was at least fun in troll way when he was released, now you have to be playing against someone with the decision making skills of an alcoholic toddler to be able to get any damage off.
