Did you look at his Mid winrate for most of last season? Even his top lane winrate? Did you guys watch Worlds? Did you happen to notice Malzahar used by SSG in almost EVERY GAME versus LZ and SKT? Why wasn't he banned? Presumably because those top teams THOUGHT they had good strategies to counter him. But those counterstrategies failed, why? Probably because Malz could just flash+R and AUTOMATICALLY GET A PICK.
Crown also used Lissandra one game I believe. Pretty much the same thing, but her damage was more balanced.
