I thought a big difference between low and high elo is map awareness and the ability to play off it?

Is there really no difference at all? Because by neutering Teleport in a drastic way and promoting dueling since everyone clearly plays a duel-centric playstyle like Hashinshin, it seems to be what Riot believes.

Honestly the biggest difference for the past like 4 years has probably been time spent playing ranked.

This is so true actually. You can play the exact same things on two different accounts. Unless you play over 100 ranked games, you aren't going to get the same rank. Useally you skip divisions and good lord for that, but even than it's are still a lot of games. Perfect run for climbing a tier is about 25 games (with 100% winrate...). To generate stable mmr and take a general winrate of 60-75% (and knowning you need to win 2 games to cover 1 lose). This mean it requires about 150 ranked game between a tier like gold to plat unless you can skip 3 division or something. A normal person has about time to play 300 ranked games every year. You do the math [zombie-nunu-bummed]

It's time to get Riot to fix their game.

Please leave league and get as many people as you can to also leave so that we can get Riot to listen and actually fix their game!!!
