How are we supposed to build Shen now?
Because I have no idea. Tank probably best but if you build like
on with one of the hydras I bet he'd scale better damage wise. Iunno.

I like a full tank build.
, with either
or
depending on what you need.
Swap out Dead Man's for a
for more damage. Swap it for
for damage+MR, against an AP heavy comp.
portal if you need to split push, which Shen is very good at with this and Sunfire.

I getcha. I just feel like you can actually afford to build him bruiser now because his q does more damage and makes him a better skirmisher. I think of it like you'll never NOT be useful just because of his ultimate and damage won't really hurt that ability at all. Just something I thought about after last game.

Yup, just swap in Titanic Hydra for whatever and he makes a very effective Bruiser.
Health is a really important stat on Shen and so is cooldown reduction. Being able to get your passive up more often is really strong.
Black Cleaver isn't that great on him since like half of his damage is magical... Just go Titanic Hydra into Sunfire and a lot of hp with some resistances on top. The best choices for damage options would probably be Wit's End, Guinsoo's, or Triforce, but I think those would most of the time be luxury items for when you're very far ahead and have a lot of gold.
Try
. I enjoy using it.
I really like the shred and hp on it. Considering you most likely have 3 ADCs on your team (fuck this meta) it really helps out their damage plus the attack damage you do, be it meager in comparison.

If you're looking to build damage instead of durability then you're looking to carry the game yourself. If your adc is capable of carrying the game, then you just need to build durability and stand in front of them while they handle the rest.

You hit the nail on the head. I have the philosophy of "If they're on my team, they're fucking..." WELL, I can't complete the sentence here or else this will be removed. You get the point.
I had good experiences with the typical Sunfire into Zz'Rot build. Then fulltank and if you really want the damage A Titanic Hydra in between. Since Shen already is THE splitpushing tank of the game, Sunfire and Zz'Rot as core will make you even batter at doing exactly that, especially since you usually have problems with waveclear and damaging towers.
For Runes I take armor quints for early durability, HPperlvl yellows because you already get a lot of resistances with Zz'Rot and Sunfire so you'll have a lot of effective HP, mrperlvl blues for your lategame ( maybe bring in a little CDRperlvl if you want to even though I felt like my energy wouldn't keep up with all the spamming ) and attackspeed reds because of your Q.
For Masteries I take the standard take toplane page: Fury > Feast > Vampirism > Opressor in Ferocity and then Unyielding > Tough Skin > Runic Armor > Insight > Legendary Guardian > Grasp of the Undying in Resolve.
On the topic of the build you suggested I kinda don't like it. You don't scale all that well with AD, you have no ratios at all, so Reavous is already something you can forget about. Titanic Hydra yes maybe, you scale well with on-hit because of your Q and the autohit-reset is really nice. Black cleaver poses the same problem Ravenous Hydra does and much more. Since you don't have any physical damage abilities you only have your autohits to stack up the passive like you are ever gonna get those off. And you won't make that much use of CDr because your energy won't keep up. Half your damage is magical so you won't make that much use of the Shred. Meh.
Hope I was able to help you a bit.
