Struggles Using Ekko

I've been playing League for a month now and I'm learning each Champions abilities and how they work and more of a... rapid rate. Besides that, I've been using Ekko as my main champion atm.

I use Ekko mid, first thing I do is rush level 2 to get my E and Phase Dive the other mid laner for quick dmg, and then I fall back a bit. But in end game.. I'm not sure what items to usually go for. I tend to get Spirit Visage and other AP items for enemies with AP. However for AD enemies I get Zhonyas.

I'm not really sure what to do in team fights is the thing... I use my time winder to poke, my W to stun and hopefully get an advantage for my team. My R seems to be mostly used for survival whenever I charge in to get the AOE Stun.

Any Ekko mains/experienced Ekkos got any tips?

Late game your focus should be assassination. And chances are, if you're farmed enough, you should be able to assassinate a carry and escape, by means of his ult, zhonyas, or landing a teamwide stun. After that, you should aid your team in killing the rest of them, by means of poke, stuns, baits, etc.

Or if you a crazy hoe, you can stun their entire team and when the stun duration is over, you can zhonyas, and then by that time your ult clone should be standing on top of all of them, and you can do massive damage to everyone. This approach will probably result in more damage dealt but also spike your chances of dying in the fight.
