Why is Malzahar's ultimate so susceptible to misclick cancels?

Malzahar's in a balanced spot, but his ultimate is so freaking prone to getting canceled by misclicks (if not canceled by poor timing into CC). IMO, there should be a 1-second window where you CANNOT cancel it (it can still be interrupted by the enemy), locking you into it for at least 1 second. Or you should need to press R again to cancel it, not right-click.

"But what if I need to break off in that 1 second?"

You probably shouldn't have cast Nether Grasp in the first place if you're in such a position.

It should be disabled by pressing R a second time, not by moving.

This.

Actually, they implemented your suggested fix a long time ago. His Ult can't be cancelled by the player for the first second. It's just that one second isn't as long as you'd think. It would be much nicer if they used Cloud Potato's idea.

I want to agree but Malz is slow. You can walk out of MF and Kat ult without issue. Why should Malz be different. It's a game changing ult that can leave you over committed. Walking out of it is simply, Simpler mechanics over a "Not particularly Quality of Life" change that isn't necessary at all. The ult isn't designed with a flaw in some fundamental way. It's similar to other champions that have good ults. And that work really well. I love playing Malzahar. It feels fine to me personally.

Maybe because his is one of the longest disables in the game. That 2.5 seconds you're suppressed is a freaking lifetime. Infinite Duress, Warwick's ult, is only 1.8 seconds. The only way you can remove suppression at all in the game is by using QuickSilver Sash or Mercurial Scimitar.

In fact, only Ashe has a longer hard disable on her ult, which lasts 3 seconds, and then you're only stunned and can be cleansed of that.

You seem to be missing the point. It's a control issue that I have a beef with. Say you ult but also misclick immediately afterward (and don't say it doesn't happen, because it does). Why should that f$ck up your ulting like that?

Be more precise. That's the point where it becomes an issue of skill. There are a lot of champion ults that you can walk out of, and believe me, I have, plenty of times. The thing about these ults is that they are powerful, and they're designed this way so that you CAN walk out of danger. Your suppression should not suppress you in turn.

Played Morgana a few times for the first time and got major AP items. When ever someone came near me I Q then W them. If it didn't work but take only a good bit of their HP and get it low enough, mostly around 1/4 HP amount, I'd ult them and they'd die in less than a second. Now when I go as this guy and I ult, it takes 2.5 seconds yes but the effect isn't always there. That said, Morgana's ult does more than Malzahar's by a long shot. Adding movement and a stun at the end is OP compared to Malzahar's.

I find that my ults are most successful in a 1v1 situation when I open with a silence (to prevent them from getting away or CCing me), follow up with E and W, then R. There has never been a time that this full rotation has not worked, provided that I wasn't interrupted by a gank.

His silence does a hefty amount of damage, while his pool is a %MaxHP DoT, and Space Aids that just does a ridiculous amount of damage on its own over time, and his Ult keeps you from doing ANYTHING unless you have QSS while his voidling is pummeling your face.

I hear you. Though I wish his ult would be easier, his combos deal SO MUCH DAMAGE.

There is a similar problem with Xerath

Played Malzahar twice this free week. Granted, I'm new to him but I think I accidentally cancelled my ult as many times as I actually got the full channel off.

It's a bitch, isn't it? That's why I want the controls for it changed so accidental cancels aren't nearly as frequent.
