As far as player progression, goals, gameplay variety, "replayability", and "free" things you can work towards but also buy??

I think it depends how much you play, I don’t play Fortnite and am only getting this off hand from my students but once you buy the Battle Pass and play enough, it can then pay for the next one next season, so the question is can you get the initial battle pass by simply playing, if yes, then I think Fortnite is better if you play a lot of games compared to LoL where the greatest amount of profit for free stuff comes from playing more casually, ie getting S and a chest onn new champions and only playing a few games a day for missions and first win of the day.
