Thresh's cruel personality and his helpful kit. Does he need tweaks?

Champion identity

Someone made a thread earlier about champions with no real "identiy" or niche and how it's hard to nerf them because Riot has no idea what part of them to target.

In this thread he posts a lovely picture making fun of the fact that Thresh is a psychotic sadist, and yet his W and E are all about helping his team mate. His W pulls them out of danger and his E knocks people away when they initiate.

Would anyone mind if they took out his "helping" power in exchange for more thematically consistent "selfish" power?

Passive - Same - It reinforces his soul collecting aspect and rewards him for it.

Q - Same - It reinforces his tormenting and "I will hunt you down" aspects.

W - Change - Why does Thresh, a self admitted mad man, have an ability purely focused on helping a team member? He's not a protector like Soraka or Janna, he's a cold blooded killer. What if it was something like:

"Thresh's lantern passively drains nearby targets of their health and heals Thresh. Thresh can throw his lantern and pull it back by activating this ability." It would drain something like 1 / 1.5 / 2 / 2.5 / 3% (+1% per 100 AP) of enemies' maximum health. This prevents it from being too strong in minion waves.)"

E Active - Change - Thresh is all about chasing people down. So why does his E knock them AWAY from him?

"Thresh rakes his flail across the ground in front of him, drawing those hit towards him. The farther away they are the closer they are pulled."

E Passive - Change - Why does it scale off of his AD? This just muddies up what sorts of items Thresh should be rewarded for building. he should be getting items like Nashor's tooth, not Bloodthirster.

"Thresh deals 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 + (0.3 AP) (+ 1 per soul.) on hit."

He loses out on the charge up damage, which is annoying in lane but pointless in team fights. In exchange he is rewarded for consistently landing attacks.

R - Same - Reinforces his "jailer" identity.

Now Thresh has a clear goal in a fight. Use Q to jump in on a fragile target, Use W to sustain, E active is used to pull in fleeing targets, the E passive gives him DPS over the course of the fight, and his R creates a "Catacylsm" like area that forces the enemy to stand and fight or eat a lot of damage for breaking the wall.
