Is it just me or is volibear a hidden op

Volibear is actually really strong. The chilling smite "nerf" was a huge buff for him. Also he has very good dragon and baron control because he can easily kill them with his w. Also he has good ganks and takes less damage from jungle camps(3 second fear means jungle camps don't do damage for 3 secs) . He also scales pretty well into late game and is a good duelist throughout the game. Not to mention he is unkilllable later on. Honestly his only problems are his lack of burst, he is easy to kite, and he has no actual gapclosers. Do you guys agree or disagree.

In fact, he has 99% banrate in LCS.

No really, he could have a good early game, but he's so useless late game, and super easy to kite.

Volibear is terrible. Don't pick him.

yeah, gnar can pretty much do that do everyone.

voli can get item 3211 and then be able to go ape on mini gnar and probably win that trade.. maybe fit in item 3047 early if he can

cool thing about voli top is he can just farm, heal with passive when he is low, and stay in lane forever and get gold and xp. he is able to have a strong mid game and fairly safe laning due to his passive.

his all ins after 6 best most top laners.

Gnar just has to kite the hell out of Voli, and Gnar's percent health W will easily force him to back off if he doesn't have his passive. His Q also negates the speed boost of Voli's Q, and mini Gnar's E gets him out of the range quickly. After Softening him up, the stun locks and extreme damage of Mega Gnar instantly kills Voli (again, if Voli doesn't have his passive)

yeah, obv favors gnar.

voli's passive has a pretty short CD though

Pretty damn short, yeah. It's usually always back up after using it, backing, then returning to lane (part of the reason I don't really like people complaining about the +20 CD increase of Cho's ult, which is a true damage AP scaling nuke that does 1000 damage to minions minimum. 80 seconds isn't THAT long).

I do like playing Volibear, but Gnar is just too hard to kill with Voli.

i like playing dense. gnar will probably push me to turret. making ganks easier.

If you burst him then it doesn't matter.

AMYS GRAVE2 votes

he has no actual gapclosers.

his q gives him a good move speed boost which is a gapcloser.

yeah voli is rather strong at the moment.

You probably mean "good"? When did a champion became either low-tier or god-tier with no middle ground?

going vs voli? pick vayne. gg

Remlap12232 votes

Oh yeah, that's the problem. Pretty much if you don't want Volibear cheesing you with his bullshit, you have to pick a champion with a knockback or targeted hard slow/stun/root Alistar Jayce Malphite Taric Trundle Veigar Velkoz Yasuo JannaVayne Fiddlesticks , or someone who is hella mobile Aatrox Azir Braum Caitlyn Kassadin Katarina etc, you get the idea. League is not about counterpicks. It's about counterplay. And in terms of counterplay, unless you've got a mobile champ that can kite him, or a tanky champ that can survive his toss, Volibear gets to cheese harder than Garen, while being a million times more safe due to his passive.

Voli is decent, but HP is still pretty destroyable right now with its items being nerfed, and all the %HP dmg all around, and the anti-melee meta nowadays. I love him, I used to main him before I got totally destroyed by a Vayne top. I still feel stronger early game than late game, at least when I lane. Maybe its just me, though...

Voli and Cho'Gath are on the same train, they have very strong and viable kits, but they are hard countered by the rampant mobility and %hp damage riot likes to tack on most new and reworked kits.

He is best top lane right now IMO

Gnar ? Kite him to hell in mini form, stun lock him in mega form

Volibear has been my absolute least favorite champion to play against. Building AD out of health is stupidly toxic (did we forget about Olaf Rito?) The fact that he gets a Singed Fling with a movement speed bonus on top of it doesn't help matters either. And his passive is probably the most broken shit in the game. It basically says "hope you got ignite chief, otherwise I'm just going to walk away from you while spamming laugh that your abilities and autoattacks aren't doing shit."

Remlap12232 votes

Looks like Volibear mains don't want their bullshit champion nerfed.

JJ H0G2 votes

His W scales off of 10% BONUS health and is only able to be used after 3 auto attacks.

Anyone who has any sort of slow/dash/jump can easily kite voli when he tries to run up and flip you.

And that passive is over a 6 second period of time in which many champs can easily kill him with their own executes and burst.

These things are a big thing in LOL now a days. So he is balanced. He is also easy to take down by Burst Damage and Crowd Control too. So he isn't op.

Wasn't Volibear fotm 6 months back? And then all of a sudden, I don't see him in even 1 game. Volibear was always strong. The Rise of Cancerous ranged tops Gnar Nidalee Kayle Jayce led to his decline. And now that the new jg is tougher, and early ganks are important he's on the rise.

I swear if riot nerfs him, then they better remove LeeSin from the game as well

Volibear is only OP against champions people consider OP, you don't want to feed one and don't want to be the fed one if support. Volibear cannot carry, he is dangerous but weak to slows, stuns (a good stun shuts Volibear down fast) and silences. Volibear can just eat Darius, Nidalee and Teemo in top lane. Have yet to encounter Nasus as Volibear but considering Volibear scales from doing damage to enemy champion before going in for the kill burst kill with pokes, Nasus will be a problem. Champs that counter Volibear really well are Mordekaiser (Morde is a undercover OP) and typically Mage top laners like Vlad, that being said. These counters are for my build, I haven't fought mage champs enough top lane to deal with them properly, they tend too screw up my build set up early game which leaves me open to ganks. My best recent match ended in surrender at 20 from the enemy team due to 12 kills, everyone else averaged 3 kills with none above 5.
