The Ryze buff raised his winrate by 9%
from 40% to 49%, its probably going to get higher. I think rita went a little bit to ham on those buffs.

The Math is strong in this one 49-41= 8
Anyway, those buffs there huge for his early but not really over the top. 49% winrate at 3%popularity(meaning he's mostly played by dedicated ryze players that know what they do) isn't all that huge.
However, after the LCS games, more ryzeplayers will start to abuse the W, which will probably increase his winrate some more and start to be problematic. Haveing the by far longest chain-cc also as point n click clearly is an issue that needs to be adressed. But if W gets nerfed, he will be in need of compensation buffs.

accidently wrote 41 instead of 40, ty
True, they should compensate him by increasing the range of his q and reducing the cd of his e by .5 seconds, course we'll probably have to balance out these huge buffs by reducing the duration of his ult by 2 seconds.

There are actually slightly fewer dedicated Ryze players playing him than the average champion (proportionally).
You also typically see the win rate for "mains" decrease after a rework (c.f. almost every other rework. Recent example, Ashe http://champion.gg/champion/Ashe). Small changes make a big difference to champion mains. All of the little things you need to master to get your win rate that high change.
going with champion.gg, Ryze mains still perform better with him than new players as his winrate still increases with number of games played. Also, going by the playrate graph, most previous ryzeplayers that don't like the new one left the ship, while the once that stayed dedicated aswell as the few new that started playing the reworked ryze had quite some time to adapt and learn now.
I know. It is slightly weird. Normally it takes longer to get back to that stage.

No different than Annie.
You see him with 4 stacks you stay the fack away or get your face melted.

Btw (imo) looking at items that Ryze had, he'd be actually harder to run away from ryze than Annie. Ryze needs like.. Boots +... uh.. potions to insta lock u, while annie needs some ap.
it's funny because this isn't even close to how fast he used to burst you before his update. his old combo Q,R,Q,E,Q,W,Q. that was an insta-burst right there.
the few time i've played ryze after his downgrade, i feel he's tankier cause of his passive. he's strong, don't get me wrong. that im not denying that at all, but not close to the monster he used to before his "update"

a few duration buffs on his passive and ult is going Ham? Going ham would be giving a damage buff to all his abilities.
But honestly, it's next to impossible to accurately predict what champ changes will actually do. A slight mana buff on Urgot, and all of a sudden, Urgot is no longer Urgot tier.
Pre Ahri changes, People complained about her losing the damage amp, stating it would make her suck. And her win rate only went up.
Stop assuming that Riot is full of Mystics who can predict what changes will bring to a certain champion.
They didn't go ham, his win rate just went from beyond atrocious to fine. If a champ's winrate is 41% then a 9% buff to their win rate is pretty much exactly what you want.

But leblanc is at a 49ish win rate and people want her nerfed to hell.

Yeah I know, it's not like having a 50% win rate proves balance or anything, I'm just saying that "9% increase in win rate wtf" isn't necessarily a problem. If his win rate had been like 46% before the buffs then I could understand complaining but no matter how extreme the win rate increase looks, there's nothing crazy about a 50% win rate.
LeBlanc has a different problem, she is not exactly too strong, but rather annoying, New Ryze my get the same problem, however his passive also provides a gate for the root, so it's not exactly a permaroot.
It's essentially a permaroot if you don't have a mobile champion or don't have flash up. The fact that his Rune Prison has almost no cooldown once he has his Arcane Mastery up and he spams spells at you, which he is designed to do, means you're rooted constantly with less time not rooted during the duration of his passive. Watch some of the YouTube videos showing this, or watch the LCS game of DIG vs TDK from Week 2, Day 1. The Ryze keeps an Irelia, with a tenacity passive bonus, basically in one spot while he melts her down. No, it's broken.
If you look at champion.gg, you'll see that Ryze Top actually falls to 48% when games go really long. His strongest phase is early-mid game (right as RoA is fully stacked) and when dueling/skirmishing prevails. 5.10 gave a lot of his late game power FAR earlier than normal and that makes him a very dominant laner. If anything went too far, it is how strong he is levels 3-6.
They buffed him last patch to nerf him harder. And without giving us that promised visual upgrade
Thx rito
we are so happy to play with those 2009 outdated champs with 9 lines quotes.
I think what Riot intended was that Ryze's E would require 2 spellcasts during Ryze's combo to come off CD, and W would require 4 spellcasts (hence why W CD is double E's CD). However they forgot to account for the W cooldown ticking while the combo is being cast/enemy is rooted, which allows the enemy only 0.25 seconds to move in between WQEQ loops.
If they raise the CD on it by a second or two the quadruple root will pretty much disappear.
You can never have too much ham.

Coz people dont know, that if focus Ryze, he easy die. But always, they igrone him in team fights and Ryze alone do ace.
Most ryze players go a lot of defensive items or they make him tankier one way or another boots + frozen heart and banshees + roa + seraphs you'll still be trying to kill basically 4k HP through all his shields, item actives and spellvamp

Uh, Ryze rushes a Rod of Ages and a Seraph's Embrace, then builds into things like Frozen Heart or Abyssal Scepter depending on the enemies. He's definitely an easy target to focus.
Ryze is a hypercarry just like Jax. That means late game, if you leave Ryze alone, he destroys you, and if you focus him, the Vayne on his team destroys you. It's a lose-lose situation for whoever is on the opposite team of Ryze.
I think currently is more they exploit his bug so it's hard to tell if he's overpowered or it's just the bug. I really wondering why riot didn't disable Ryze.
I'm sure the buff meant something but I really have to wonder how much was just people figuring out to max W instead of Q.
Part of it was that W max got a lot better. Having double the duration on the passive early on can equal out to 2 more W uses, which lets you put a lot more damage onto the enemies. W max may or may not have been the right decision before the buffs, but it got a huge power boost after the buffs came around.

Fair 'nuff.
