Why does everyone say Akali hard counters Zed?

Because she doesn't, I literally just got destroyed by a Zed and it was so bad I ended the game with like 85 CS and he had like 170. You can literally just buy a pink ward and rekt an Akali in a fight.

I even rushed Zhonya but I couldn't even CS so I didn't get Zhonya till like 17 minutes into the game, that's fucking horrible when you get your first major item 17 minutes into the game. A lot of people say "Oh just rush Zhonya and you'll be fine" granted my jungler didn't gank once for me so that didn't help me against him either but buying a pink ward and dropping it in the middle of a fight is a sure fire way to kill her quickly if she uses her W.

TL;DR Zed should easily beat an Akali, not the other way around.

Why rush zhonyas if you are akali? That's like rushing Zhonyas on a Katarina. When you are on both assassins lane it becomes a skill match up. Akali "counters"zed simply because her burst is available more often, plus her mobility can help her dodge Zed skillshots while alkali has none. Then again those strengths doesn't mean you will have an easy lane, any assassin vs assassin is a skill match up. Whoever is the best assassin wins.

Akali's core item is Hextech Gunblade. Considering how much damage and sustain you lost by not getting it, you kinda screwed yourself over.

Akali is considered a "counter" because her burst is available more frequently, she can keep a mark on him to proc whenever he last hits with basic attacks (letting her easily outtrade him), and she has early sustain while Zed doesn't.

Zhonya's Hourglass isn't even that gold efficient at the moment. A build order similar to the following would have been more useful:

  1. Cloth Armor and 4 Health Potions
  2. Seeker's Armguard
  3. Hextech Revolver
  4. Hextech Gunblade
  5. Sorcerer Shoes
  6. Zhonya's Hourglass

Brings a skill based counter into lane.

Loses for lacking skill.

So because you failed that means it's not true? Did you not read your post and think wait a minute that's a terrible argument because you should have.

Rogue#2 chiming in, you can out harass a zed 10000 times over..when he ults on you you could just shroud to your turret, or keep the wave pushed close to but not on your turret so that way you will always have your turret as a safe haven to burst him when he ults you (+ Turret damage) ulting you will be more of a challenge for zed...also ganks have to be well executed, otherwise zed can easily escape and fall back to his turret with his shadow

Also Item Build order Id recommend: item 3191 > item 3146 > item 3157 > item 3047 >item 3135 >item 3089 >item 3285

Just to get you that armor you need, as well as some burst capability...but id really build armguard first just to give you some armor and a bit of AP to start then go for your blade

depends on skill of the players, some zed's i ended even with him, others are easier

if you perform this combo : Q (wait till Q cd is almost back up) + AA + Q + AA the burst will be enough to make him probably back off

isnt hard to perform this because while you're waiting for Q cd. you can hide in W and he'll most likely try to use his E on you... you win trades easy fun note: it works on most of yasuo's out there

and after you get 6 he's dead, Q + wait a bit+ R + Q + AA + Q + AA

isnt hard to dodge his Shurikens, just stay away from his shadows

akali is a "counter" because she can follow/dash to zed wherever he goes, AND because she has lower CD's + targeted abilities on all of her stuff, it allows for better targeted burst. zed is more about outskilling "mechanics" on your opponent. but akali just targets you and blows you up.

it may not be the case for 1 or 2 items, but by the third item you'd much rather have an akali on your team than a zed.
