Can we nerf champions based of their play rate, rather than their win rate?

If so, i'm excited for Lee Sin, Thresh, Vayne, Zed, Yasuo nerfs.

Obviously not, but i'd love some Lee nerfs somewhere in this season.

So basically, you want to nerf the most popular champions, regardless of whether of not they even have the potential to win games

So nerf champions because they're fun to play?

Or unfun to play against?

That's a subjective argument. I could say Galio's anti fun to play against and then make an equal argument that he should be nerfed.

Vast majority of people find winning more fun than losing. Thus they play good champions. Thus good champions have the highest play rate. Thus nerfing high play rate champions is probably the best statistical measure to use for buffs/nerfs.

so you're saying that if a champion has a 100% pick/ban and a 10% win rate, and another champion has a 100% win rate and a 10% pick/ban, the 100% pick/ban champion is op

ok

btw lee sin is the 100% pick/ban and 10% win rate champion, people keep picking him and mostly likely do poorly

no champion is ever going to have that low of a winrate, and especially no champion deemed 100% pick/ban worthy, use your brain please

Syndra hit a 24% winrate its not impossible to go lower. Also its an example.

Play rate doesn't equate OPness any more than win rate. You have to look at both stats together, plus external factors.

Actually, outside of recently released or reworked champions, pick+ban rate equates extremely well with opness without adjusting for anything else. Also, pick+ban has historically correlated far better to champion strength than win rate and there is no reason to believe this patch will be any different.

I did say you have to put the 2 stats together.
