Kindred has to be strong to justify their presence

Presently they take too long to get going and weaken their team's front line.

I'd rather they be tuned around early> mid game power, then fall off naturally as front lines begin to matter more.

Making them a scaling jg, when their team is already compensating for the delayed power spike of the bot adc and a miniaturized frontline, is counter-intuitive.

and here's where we see an issue. Kindred was designed to be the adc of the jungle, starting off weak and scaling to be an hp-shredding monster in the late game. This is an inherent design flaw as you need some degree of early power to function as a jungle...

So what do you do to Kindred that allows her to function in the jungle (without breaking her in a lane, as we saw back when she had early sustain) while still being able to scale into late-game as an adc that still leaves her appropriately balanced?

And I see what you mean about how essentially wasting slot in the jg, making it so you have 2 positions have delayed power so your team is weak in the beginning can be considered as bad but context matters here. You have to remember that having a melee bot laner (morde is a good example) has been a mini--goal of Riots for a lil bit now. I'm ok with this drawback because it can be worked around and is being actively worked towards a viable situation to have an adc jungle.

I'm not upset Kindred was designed as a scaling jungler, I think the problem occurs in how she scales. But there's more going on.

  1. No CC. It really helps to have CC as a jungler, and kindred is lacking this. At least she has mobility.
  2. Not a powerfarmer. Kindred would work if she were were a little more like shyvana, yi, or mundo, but I don't see anyone calling her a powerfarmer.
  3. ADC is an expensive position and junlging is the second poorest role.
  4. No one picks her to go mid or more importantly bot ADC. IMO this is a sign this is a flawed kit. Even "adc" morde can still go top.
  5. The ult is... weird. It's a great one thematically, but for an ADC I can't say I'm thrilled by it.
  6. Not a champ you can first pick as a jungler. Kindred is someone you want to fill a hole on your team, which limits her.
  7. Works best if the game goes long, and games rarely go long these days.

Issue with her being a scaling jungler is that her kit is highly volatile, making it difficult for her to reach that scale. Even then, the risk vs reward is simply not in her favor at any point in the game. If her late game was godly where she 1 shots everyone just by /j or /l then sure. But it doesn't happen for her. She still has to work to get kills at late game, making it rather pointless to gimp her early game severely.

If they gave her more early game power what would stop her from being played botlane with a support?

And what's wrong with that? It's not like her early game is spectacular anyways. Plus, she doesn't have the burst or utility that many ADCs have in lane, so not like she would be a broken pick in bot lane somehow if they decide to make her slightly stronger. At 500 range, which is the same as Vayne and Sivir, she would still get bullied out easily.
