why is sightstone being removed?

just read the patch notes and saw that support items including sightstone, 3 starting items, and ruby sight stone are being removed. i think sight stone is really what defined a good and bad botlane. i say "botlane" because it requires both support and ADC to ward up to prevent ganks and provide information for the team.

the new items are okay but there isnt that much info on them

Basically underaged brats complained that they don't want a "beta" item because they want more "damage" to carry the game. As supports. with a 0/8/4 score at 10 mins. Just like hashinshin refuses to go tiamat first item and just shove the lane after lv7 like every player is supposed to do or riven mains that refuse to build it because they want to play streetfighter instead of league of legends.

Or if you will... pretty much like when a mother tells his kid to not chew with his mouth open because it's bad manners and the kid starts chewing louder and showing everybody what's in his mouth to show everyone who's boss.

And then don't say riot doesn't listen to their community...

Btw it won't be as bad as it seems really, i still have to check when the sightstone comes in but if any problems arise it could be easilyfixed by allowing players/teams to buy a limited amount of green wards or something in the shop, that would be an interesting idea. On the other hand, Ivern needs something that will bring him back into viability as his current build is to rush ruby sightstone and light up the map like a christmas tree with zombie ward, we'll see if those items can become viable on him or not, but he will really miss the ruby sightstone cdr...

Basically, the new system allows supports 800g and an item slot compared to the previous system. Because the quest is now tied to sightstone active, pretty much every support will have it whether they like it or not. If you want to invest in a no-vision kill lane, you have to forgo the gold gen on those items, too.

I think it's overall healthier direction. Lots of people are a bit nervous about it, but we'll see how it shakes out.

They are making the game easier, and discouraging creativity. Rito is staying this item is for supports, supports should play the game like this. If you go support this is how you have to do it. IT's the exact opposite of what drew me too this game. I liked experimenting and finding fun alternative ways to play. This always happens when anything reaches an 8th season... they try to develope a formula way to sell the same thing as something new. So sad :P

When the average playerbase towards supports has been "build a damn sightstone or I'll report you" at least this is one burden off your back unless you choose to deliberately not buy a support item or upgrade it.

How exactly is removing a borderline forced item to the playerbase any form of shattering to innovation? I feel more than curious what kind of itemization I can do now without that mandatory early game item looming over my head.

Because now you don't have a choice. It's like a curfew or something else mandatory. You don't have choices how is that fun or strategic? If you take choices away from the player the game becomes less interactive. Edit: Removing the choices to buy the active support item

They're working on bringing old actives back on new items.

It's not like those actives will be completely wiped from the game. Riot has already stated that the loss of what was will be temporary as they find effective solutions. And there's already speculation to Twin Shadows returning as an item. Innovation doesn't get obliterated unless you were one who built linear game after game.
