Do I need to buy Redemption AND Locket?

Or are just one of them enough?

See, I love playing a particular armored bear as a Support, and though I rarely if ever get flame from the ADC (thank God) I've recently been told "You should always buy Redemption+Locket" regardless of my champion or if I even really enjoy buying said items.

To those saying "Play Top then", "Play Mid then", "Play Jungle then", I don't enjoy either of the three roles. I'm bad at CSing and have a fondness for protecting someone/people, but also for being a moderate CC/damage threat you can't just ignore.

To go into detail, I like to play a very specific armored bear as a support, and though I've rarely (I recall like twice by extremely bad "I can 3v1" ADCs) been flamed, I've once been told I should be buying both of said items.

you don't have too build locket or redemption, usually when playing braum i get locket and that's it, i usually get redemption on soraka though. if the healing bonus from redemption works on ur passive then sure get it, that's help you and your team. just remember you aren't forced to build them, as long as you're nice to your teammates and aren't trolling you should be fine! I too play off meta supports: ex ezreal

I pick them up depending on how the game is going; if I need a defensive item for burst I'll grab Locket, if I need one but their damage won't kill us in under 3 seconds I'll get Redemption. If we are ahead and not in much danger of dying I'll pass them both up and go for more offensive or comfort utility items. If we are behind I may end up rushing both of them. I weigh Redemption more heavily on Supports that benefit from the 10% heal/shield bonus as well.
