Main roles: Tank: Takes 50% less damage from basic attacks, deals 25% less damage AD carry: Deals 25% more damage to minions and monsters with basic attacks AP carry: Deals 20% more magic damage

Sub roles: Predator: Champion kills grant an additional 10 AD or AP (Depending on main role), and incoming damage from monsters and minions is reduced by 25% Initiator: CC ignores up to 20% of tenacity (Scaling up over a period of 40 minutes) and CC lasts 35% longer (CC which last two seconds or longer are not effected) Securer: Increases damage dealt to structures and objectives (Dragon/baron) by 25% Support: CC abilties last 20% longer, and healing is increased by 35% on carry roles Tank: Incoming damage from all sources is reduced by 25% and damage dealt to structures is increased by 30%

etc,etc.

the thing is generally roles are determined by a champs kit, not some intrinsic property that their role gives them.

Main roles would be dictated by design, sub roles would be things you choose. There could be as many as riot wants to allow; there are many facets of a game which one could choose to excel at.

Dawngate had a role system, and it was unique. It helped balance things out and give players boons where the role they chose needed it. Id like to see riot implement something similar.
