How to maximize the efficency of: Mordekaiser Jungle

Starting Jungle item: Hunter's Talismen or Machete? Smite color: Blue, Red, or Green? Jungle Enchantment: Cinderhulk, Warrior, Runic Echos or Devourer? This one is a little tough, since Morde scales off of both AP and AD and he does pretty well being a tanky bruiser. While the extra attack speed from Devourer can help you get your three Q's off a lot faster. So...which one? Masteries:? Runes:?

This isn't a Discussion about how viable it is, it's about how you can use it to the most efficiency!

Discuss down below! :D

personal recommendations: machete, all jungler blades can be efficient based on the team you play against, devourer is most recommended (take strength of the ages for hp instead), 6/6/18 masteries are my personal favorite, AP quints and AD marks, with standard Armor seals and MR glyphs are my mordekaiser runes

other notes: first clear a bit slow. will take you 2 minutes and 30 seconds, give or take. q max in jungle. after you get recurve bow, you will take negative damage in jungle. 2 points in Q at level 3, don't bother with E until level 4, or if you're ambitious, don't bother with E until machete upgrade (E doesn't do a lot of damage against anything compared to putting more points in Q and W)

I run 6/6/18 on Sion Jungle. Works like a charm.

With 0 games to actually back this up, just going off theory --

Starting Item: Talismen is generally better for anyone with AoE. IIRC the health regen counts per target so I believe he'd get better mileage out of it. First camp might be rough, would need a leash, but once you get both Q & E should be smooth sailing.

Smite Item: Well, Morde needs to stick to his targets, so I'd say Blue since he has 0 CC. Exception would be if you had a lot of CC on your team, then maybe Red if you're planning on running a more AD or on-hit build.

Enchant: Depends on build. Despite Morde's HP scaling on his passive he seems to perform better with AP, so probably Runeglaive Runic Echoes. If you are gonna try for tankier build than Cinderhulk, but I don't think he tend to be effective when build towards tank. I think Devourers would be kind of a gimmick/troll build, potentially entertaining in normals but not particularly viable.

Runes/Masteries are largely personal taste, but Keystones are where its at anyway.

Might be worth trying a CDR-oriented AP build, run the +5% CDR with Thunderlords Keystone. More CDR, more spells, more shield.

If going for an off-tank build I'd probably go with the Strength of Ages or whatever its called, defensive mastery where you steal %hp on a hit.

I personally don't see him as a good jungler due to the way his W works, but if I had to play him, it'd be something like this:

Starting Items item 1039 item 2031 (the general idea is, if you have an aoe dmg ability, go with Talisman, if not, Machete) Core Items item 3930 item 3116 item 3053 and for boots item 1306 Go for item 3512 as your 3rd if you're stupidly far ahead From here, fill with tank/bruiser items, like item 3742 item 3157 item 3025 item 3156 depending on what you need.

Runes 9x AS Red 9x HP/Lvl Yellow 9x Flat CDR Blue 2x Flat AP Quint 1x Flat CDR Quint

Masteries 12/0/18 with Strengh of Ages I don't see much in the Cunning tree, that actually helps you unless you'd run all the way down for TLD or SRS. With this, you get bonus tank stats, tenacity, and some additional power for your jungle clear or push/fight potential.

Abilities If you start Gromp, start with Q, in any other case start E. Lv2, get the other, then Max E first obviously. I don't see any value in his W for early jungling purposes, so you might get a point here at Lv5 at best to have it available once you hit 6. Rest is up to your playstyle.

Man I love the responses I got from you guys. Absolutely genuine answers! I was honestly expecting a bunch of trollish responses, but I'm pleasantly surprised. Looking at your responses I tested out on two custom games.

I tried one with hunter's machete and the other with talisman. Talisman was better. By far. It scales with your W better, even if you just use it on yourself. Testing it without being leashed, I was able to clear double golems with my W and smite, and then rush over towards red and using Q instead of E, I managed to kill it and remain at around... maybe less than 70% health.

After that I went to the chicken camp, the wolf camp, blue and then gromp. From 1:40 to 4:23 with no leash.

It's a surprisingly strong clear! :O
