Can we turn Sonas "auras" finally to real auras?

Like seriously, instead of having a short duration buff for like 1 second, can't just the buff refresh if champions are standing in her aura range? I mean, even the aura duration increases with each champion tagged, but for what is it worth if you tag all champions with your auras if they can't benifit from them alot?

So here is my suggestion: Let her Aura buffs refresh each second an ally stands in her aura, meaning Sona and her allies actually can benifit much more by staying in her range than sona running around and tagging each ally once. Adjusting her cooldown on her abilities all to 9 seconds would be a good start on that, giving her q a longer cooldown, while decreasing the cooldown of her W and E to make them actually any useful in lane.

After that, change the Mana cost ratio for her W from 80/85/90/95/100 to 60/70/80/90/100, to make it actually more favorable to use in lane and even putting some more points in it at early game without worrying to exhaust Sonas mana pool. The amounts she can heal at early game compared to other supports is so small, that I'm already wondering if it's worth to use it in lane.

You guys don't have to agree with me, but Sona was designed to be an Aura champion, not an short duration buffer. This might be a good step for giving back sona her identity of being an aura champion.

I'm not opposed to the idea, but 350 is still too low to make it usable. Unless Riot finally buffs the range by AT LEAST 200 units, Sona is just going to remain unplayable no matter what they do.

It used to be that way, but Riot decided that that "lacked interaction" and "wasn't fun".

True,there wasn't a ton of interaction to choosing one of three persistent auras, but it did make her an easy support to use.

Lol one of the easiest ways to tell how long a player's been playing is if they know about the changes riot made in the earlier days lol

By definition, Sona's current spells are not auras. However, Riot and Fearless in particular are so blindly fixated on making certain she's never playable, they aren't concerned with minor issues like lying to our faces.


Auras have four basic characteristics:

  • They are AoE spells, based on the position of the caster, otherwise known as point blank area of effect (PBAoE) spells.
    
  • They are instant cast, and have no cooldown.
    
  • They have an infinite duration, as long as the affected target is within range of the caster, and the caster is alive.
    
  • They are not dispellable.

  • Sona's spells go on cooldown after a set duration, they aren't persistent.
  • Sona's spells are not infinite, they apply a single-use effect that the target holds on to even after they leave range or Sona dies.
  • Sona cannot use them while stunned, silenced, knocked-up, et cetera.

She fails to meet an entire THREE of the 4 necessary traits.


Your suggestion is a much better kit than Sona has right now, but it still falls short of actual aura usage as well.

But yeah, "aura refresh" is a brilliant idea.

Nothing else you're suggesting looks like it will make her any healthier, though.
