@Vesh: Why is Soraka losing her mana-restore capability?

I'd post this in your topic, but it's too flooded with posts right now.

With the Soraka rework, she's apparently losing the ability to restore mana to an ally. That was a real identity thing for her, and I question why it was completely taken out. Toxic gameplay?

I, for one, think the mana restore should be kept, but if it's a major laning problem, then how about putting that mana restore into Soraka's ultimate? Basically, when she ults, she restores health and mana to all her teammates, and only health to herself (no refunding her own ultimate). Yes, you'd only use it to heal allies, but having it also restore mana would be a nice bonus.

I don't think they consider it toxic O.o Vesh himself said that he thought about making the AoE restore mana to allies but he said it felt weird because of the high cooldown... As for putting it somewhere else I wonder if its possible on Soraka's kit or if they might implement it on another champion in the future? who knows, though I'd like it if they gave it back to her somehow.

I think they want to shy away from the mana/heal bot playstyle, also the possibility is that new spells took all of her power budget and there was no place left for it

Personaly its sad they removed it,but if they want her core indentety to be the Healer of LoL ,its a sacrififce worth making.

Her healing will be pretty interesting now and she also got more CC in her.

Besides that im pretty sure RIOT will add the mana restoring ability to another supp in the future.

Cant wait fort he rework to go live! :))

Because it's not particularly thematically interesting as she's a healer archetype? Honestly the thing that bored most about Soraka was the fact that all she did was make her Carry's health and mana bar artificially longer. They took that out to add more healing power into her budget-she can now use her heal every FOUR SECONDS. that's pretty cool.

mana restoring is a bad trait overall for the game

if they will ballance her kit with mana restore they will force her to synergize only with carries who have potent skils (cait,graves,sivir, lucian) and probalby totaly wreck her late game usefullness cause she will be a ble to make those carries realy strong early

riot just changed that skill to remove the ballance problems that would occur in the future

I'm honestly going to miss her poke and low CD silence more than the mana battery. Soraka became trash tier in bot because she lost the ability to poke consistently early game.

I don't consider it a part of her identity but it was still a unique ability that no other champion had. But she is getting an AOE field silence and I don't think any other champion has that type of firepower under their belt. Nonetheless, this kit still needs a lot of work [10% health cost is pricy, Yo!] and I hope she gets some work on both her Q and E so that their CD isn't so ridiculously long. [at least her Q, 10 seconds is rather long to not do damage.]

For me, take both mana regen and damage from the spell seems like a hard kick to soraka.

An AoE silence is great (but we still have to see the area of it^^) but leaving her with only one damage ability that ennemy can dodge (unlike zilean bomb who is the only other champ with one damage ability I think) will just make the ennemy teamfight choice more easy. (stun her as she can't reach her ally, kill them then turn on soraka who can't damage you even if you are low health :s)
