I guess I'm in the minority when it comes to Kindred...

I actually like them a lot, and I'm hyped to buy them instead of a Fiora rune page when they come out. People say they're a mash-up of recycled things, but sometimes it's about taking what you have and making something unique out of it.

-People say their ult is just a Bard ult, but unlike Bard, they can't disable a turret. It only saves living things, and the living things can still move while they're in the ult...and they can mess up by moving outside of the ult or being pushed out of it by force. It's a safe zone that anyone's welcome to hop in, despite the fact that as soon as it ends a lot of hit-boxes are gonna be flying.

-People are ticked that they have another 3-hit-proc ability, but, to be fair, there's no true damage here. Not nearly as bad as Vayne who just runs through shit, but yea, they probably could have done something else with this.

-Their Q is related to Kalista, but the Q is only on low cd when they're in ranges pre-made by their W. This means they only get those continual hops when they're skirmishing in set spots. Outside of that zone the cd is much longer than that.

-Their W is pretty unique in and of itself.

-I've seen people relate their passive to Garen, but Garen's passive is "Whoever got a kill last is the guy that eats this damage". Kindred's passive is "We don't care who you are. If we pick you, and you die, we get a permanent boost. Period". You can literally just target the guy that's feeding the hardest and kill that guy over and over again for free stats. You choose the one you mark. Garen just responds.

I'm actually psyched for the champ, but the 3-hit-proc thing is probably the part I'd be unimpressed with if anything. Still a lot more good than bad if you're a bit more open-minded about it.

The parts that disappoint me about Kindred are:

League of Mobility

Seriously every champion is getting mobility, a champion is considered unviable or not for having it. Before mobility was just an interesting, unique aspect of the champion and usually they wouldn't be able to spam their mobility without consequences. Now mobility is a must have unless you have insane self peel (Viktor with his W for example, he has an MS buff anyways). The sole reason Lucian has ever made it into the LCS was because of his mobility, without it he wouldn't ever be played since he has mediocre damage, bullying, and teamfighting until they recently buffed him. Even when he had an abysmal win rate he was still constantly played. Why? Because he has a low CD, manaless dash and a MS buff.

3 AA 2 win

In general I don't like how games are always "Defeat this Boss 3 times and they finally, permanently die." but now with League, just in the last very recent champion releases we have Kindred, Tahm, and Ekko all having extremely similar functions. Auto attack them 3 times to do a lot of damage. At least Tahm has special interactions, but still. The mechanic is so boring and sure It's easy to balance but that doesn't mean it should be added to every champion. It's so lazy and easy.

I don't think you're in the minority. I am hyped as hell for this champion, and am seriously considering buying the release bundle for them when they get released

Riot's doing a good job lately. Kindred is a very strange champion and I'm not sure if I'll play them myself, but they're a solid design that will find home with a few players, just like Bard (I actually find them very similar -- they have the same otherwordly feel, you can't quite tell if they're cute or scary, good or evil.)
