Poke and peel will save you.

Poke a champion with a invulnerbility passive. lol

Ralanr4 votes

...yes. To remove the passive.

1 800 Top Lane1 votes

Let's say you fight malz with anivia. Anivia's Q has 3 different effects, Damage, Slow, and stun. Malz blocks all 3 without even making an effort.

Having champions do things for you means youre fighting the computer, and not actual skill.

Ralanr2 votes

You're Anivia. You have ranged auto attacks.

The thing you use to last hit at level 1 for CS. That will remove his passive.

1 800 Top Lane1 votes

Anivia's auto attack range is the same range as malz full combo. so great, I auto attack for 14 dmg, throw a Q for 200. while I run away with dot's dealing over 1400dmg at lvl 5

Ralanr2 votes

Oh look, you need to take a risk to actually hurt him.

1 800 Top Lane1 votes

I wasn't playing around with the numbers, Those are actual numbers, Malz combo at lvl 5 does 1473 if you have mr runes atleast 45.

"Risk vs reward"?? where is that? 200 damage? Maybe? to take 1400? get the fuck out of here with that.

Dont polish a turd and tell me its steak

If you can take out his passive, then you're able to all in him.

If you're melee then I can see the problem, but if you're ranged then the issue is considerably less.

Lets say you fight Malz with Xerath. Xerath's Q takes down Malz's shield before Malz gets in range to do anything, then you can use your E and W on him, back up, and get your Q off again on him to do damage. You might even be safe enough at this point to use your Ultimate to kill him right then and there.

Note that all of that started with Poke. If your champion can't poke effectively, then yeah, Malz will be a harder matchup.

Until malz flash full combo's you.

Sick counterplay bro.

DrCyanide4 votes

His Ult range is 700, Flash moves you 425, so he's got an effective range of 1125 if his flash is up.

Xerath still out-ranges him at 1400 for his Q, so the shield is likely going to be down. You see him flash forward, you E, you knock him out of his Ult all on your own.

Yeah, it's pretty sick counterplay.

Arkale1 votes

And it still requires him to have voidlings set up.

EndlessSorcerer2 votes

So, autoattack before you use an ability to take down the shield.

It isn't hard.

1300g = QSS. Now he's useless

1 800 Top Lane1 votes

Lol, go ahead bud, build one and see what happens.

Toxic Memes1 votes

He ults you, you activate qss, and you are no longer suppressed. The QSS cooldown is also shorter than the base cd of his ult until it's rank 3

item 3140 : 90 second cd Malzahar Ult: 120/100/80 second cd

I have many times... That's why I said it... MR blocks damage from his spells and the active makes his long cool down ultimate completely useless. So yeah, countered.

Yeah, his ult is pretty much a pile of BS. You'll want to play someone like Velkoz or Xerath to win lane against him right now. Katarina might work if you can predict his R. Still a nasty champion to play against and generally you'll need a lot of ganks to actually win lane.

I play malzahar lanes like I play yasuo lanes, attempt to keep his passive down at all times. He can't truly all in you until 6, so skirt around his range and poke when you can. At 6 try to roam a lot or buy a qss. If you start to lose lane, buy another dorans and first buy abyssal. Magic resist, Ability Power, and Magic Pen (passive aura) are all useful in situations like this and can give you near true damage early.

Toxic Memes1 votes

Lux can make Malz have a horrible time because Lux easily outranges him and her e slow pops his passive then you can just pop your e and get the damage off.

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

Suppressions explicitly prevent Summoner Spells from being activated.

If you can't activate Cleanse, then it won't remove the CC affecting you.

dunder kill1 votes

But hey Removes all disables and debuffs. Uhh Lol no it doesn't.

Technically it does. Suppression just disables your ability to use summoner spells. But cleanse technically would work IF you could use it
