PSA: Full support items are getting removed.

Apparently even riot thinks that supports doing the warding and nothing fun is how it should be played.

item 3401 item 3069 and item 3092 are all getting dumpstered and getting replaced with a revamped version of these items: item 2303 item 2302 item 2301 .

Sightstone is also getting removed and instead the passive is getting placed onto the gold quests that are attached to each component variant of the support items: item 3098 item 3096 item 3097

Good news: Supports can't get flamed anymore for not buying sightstone

Bad news: Less fun actives make the role all that more boring.

I think I'll just go place wards everywhere then say "There, now you have no other excuses to use when you lose.", and just turn on auto pilot like every unfortunate Janna main.

Meanwhile no ADC nerfs.

Yep. As expected.

Going to miss the MS boost that item 3303 has, it's pretty detrimental for most AP supports because they come with little HP and movement abilities

More bad news: Once you're behind in lane, you're gonna be behind for a long time because they have more vision, and you don't.

No, its replacing the gold quests, no more quest shields, movement speed or coins, it sucks.

And active support items are only good on good supports because mediocre players would use them bad or bad players would never use them, so there goes an aspect of standing out as a support player.

I always buy the eye items anyways. With how strong things like locket, knight's vow, and redemption are I find it better to just put my sightstone and starting item into one so I can get to building the others faster.

As a support main, I think this will make the role boring. I guess it's good I've started trying to play mid and adc too, since I don't know how much longer I'll be sticking as a support main if Riot goes through with this :/

This change is good. Khazix It removes a lot of redundancy from support build paths. The fact that you get sightstone automatically without having to sink 800g worth of progress and also win an item slot gives supports a lot of freedom.

I don't care about the actives. I hope they never come back. In fact I always thought that the quests and those actives were too gimmicky and too meaningless.

And there goes my habit and playstyle of always gunning for item 3069 and item 3092 when I supp; while I solve most of the vision problems by buying control wards (and since you only have 1 on the map at any given time, so I "move" it from places to places), warding totems, Rift Scuttler control, and with item 3092's active if I use it.

Thanks Riot.

LOL, they will just stop buying them and go right to damage.

As someone who has mained support for 5 years now i never spent money on any of the top three items aside from the one with the shield active and only on some really niche tank supps when i felt like making my contributions more visible. The coin line effect is completely useless outside teams when you have voice chat for coordination and fqc while seemingly useful on soome supports, isnt useful on any of the supports i played.

All of those combined ward items ive never found worth the investment, at least with sightstone you get some hp. depending on the stats and costs of the new/buffed items it looks like i might go back to spending the whole match with a totem as my only ward source. I wish they'd just bring back the upgraded warding totem and leave it alone. If supps want to waste all their money on being ward bots then they should just go play dota.

As a supp main i abhor the removal of those actives. The talisman was key to most of my support builds. Yes it'll return, but what use will it be if i use it and so does the enemy bruiser? The olaf? The hec?

I will adapt, but i dont like it. Why hit the supp, not like our job isn't hard enough

So as much as I would like to defend this nerf to support, I can't because it cuts at the power ADC's have in lane and in teamfights. Assassins are meant to burst out-of-position squishies, yes they should die if they idiotically go for a squishy surround by two tanks and a support. I'm personally glad to see that the Bot Lane's power overall is being toned down, it means that other lanes and the jungler will once again be able to help determine the outcome of the game rather than: One Bot lane loses, the other wins and takes the game.

My first usual back as a support (if we stall the lane long enough) is a Sightstone. I then build the non-sightstone version of the support items.

Removing them will want me to play Support less. I liked those items. Looking at the new versions, I'm wondering why I should upgrade them with the HP at all. Might as well get the vision then go straight into other damage/support items.

Kind of sad to hear considering I'm a support main.. time to move to a new role I guess :/.

Miku Append1/11/2018, 1:55:09 AM2 votes

item 3070 Welp, I guess they might as well take away summoner 3 and item 2422 too... Good thing I've been looking at other roles to main. I love running item 3092 and scaring the ever loving fuck out of the enemy bot lane as Brand .

DeusVult1/10/2018, 7:31:02 PM1 votes

The dumbest thing about all of this is that it is going to even further delay the support getting vision. Now they have to complete the gold quest in order to get access to what used to be a 800g purchase. A ton of supports would go starting support item into sightstone first back, now they won't have access to large amounts of vision until 10-15 minutes in, depending on how active they are.

And if a lane gets hard shut down, that support will lose access to vision for even longer, only further allowing the enemy to snowball as their support can deep ward the opposing jungle, while the support that is behind cannot defensively ward.

FInally i won't hear support's stupid excuses for not buying sighstone. u can't imagine how much games i lost due to we being blind in our own jg. idk how it makes it so sad to lose 10% movement speed for 4 sec two useless ghosts with huge cd and 250 shield max. ppl playing supp must understand their job better.
