...to live together?

No?

Okay.

Anyway, it would be nice if there was better support itemization, yes. We know. Riot's kinda busy with the class update right now, though.

nerf the 2 op items and the rest will get used

I doubt it. Support item builds have always had the "OP" item/items of the season. They come and go according to the meta. I remember when item 3222 was expected to be purchased on every support. After item 3222 the "required" item was item 3190 because of the passive MR aura. item 3092 had a pretty big impact when introduced too, it was even in midlane. If item 3190 and item 3107 were nerfed to low points I would bet some other item or two would take their place as the OP item of the season.

locket and redemption are overbearing by design. most other support items have a focus on single target effects (especially the tank support items, or empowering yourself and one ally like zekes)

there's no reason to buy vow and make one person tankier when redemption is cheaper and gives potentially your whole team a bonus to their health

ardent is good because shield supports don't have cooldowns but also because the boost works with those 2 items, which means single target shield supports can still provide AS boosts and life leech to multiple people.

support items are just dumb and redemption made it worse

Doesn't change the fact that there would only be a new "required" item to take their place. I do agree support items are dumb they need some serious love, I wish they were brought up to Redemption's level of design and power.

I don't agree, other support items are niche or don't provide team wide benefits

I think there's an issue in invisible power as well; they don't feel as good to use as the very visible heal Redemption provides or the quick reflexes that Locket rewards. You don't really appreciate what Vow does for you even if you know you're bonded to someone

What do you define as niche? I would say that every item is supposed to have it's purpose. Honestly, I love games where I can justify building item 3050 it just requires a hyper-carry ADC. It's been really rare lately because the only ADCs I get teamed with lately are utility/dueling ADCs and Ezreal. I miss the days of Twitch, Kog'Maw, and Jinx. Unfortunately there is just too much focus on early game these days and they have been pushed out as a result. This more then anything has lead to the rise and requirement of Redemption and Locket, players just need that defense for early midgame. I would much rather have item 3504, item 3174 and item 3050 in a late game match but games don't go that long anymore.
