Resource `healer`

This is more of a question about current champions, and if the answer is no it becomes a concept so I didn't know which board it more closely belongs to.

Are there currently any champions that can restore the mana/resource of their allies, similar to how some champions heal allies? I know the kits of most champions fairly well but I'm not aware of any.

If there is not a champion that does this, I would really like to see this. Maybe they could grant a flat amount of mana, maybe a percent of their target`s max mana, maybe increase their Mp5 for a certain amount of time. I think it would be cool if this could somehow work with mana-less champions such as champions with energy or heat. Perhaps in the case of Champions who use HP as resource it could simply be a heal. Another idea I had would be to simply refund the resource cost of the last ability cast.

I'm sure there are many other ways something like this could be added.

Imagine being an AD caster or a mage who normally HAS to build a mana or Mp5 item, but with this champion as your support you can just focus on buildings damage.

Yeah, precisely. That's why it won't happen. There has been a few discussions about this topic in the past, mainly when Soraka "mana heal" was discussed and people tried to generalize the concept. This concept looks fun at first sight, but it's a balance nightmare. Not even talking about champ without costs. Garen just used his ult and has no cost, so what, you just refund his cooldown and he can ult a 2nd person?

I would not suggest refunding cooldowns. That's not even on the table. There aren't any resource-less carries that I'm aware of.

It's a little sad that people dismiss ideas so quickly when it is presented as such a basic concept. You have to remember that Riot is literally GOD in Runeterra. They can add any number of balance mechanics that would make this work.

I also don't understand why people look at this as so much stronger of a thing than healers. If you don't have a healer you need to invest gold into Health, Hp5, or lifesteal. With a healer you dont, or at least not as much. And unlike with health, even with full mana you can still die.

It's not "dismissed so quickly", as I said, there has already been discussions about that, it's just that you arrived after the battle.

And people don't look at this in a really different way than healers. Straight heals have been stated many times to be an unhealthy and hard to balance mechanism, as exemplified by Soraka many mini-reworks. It's also for the same reason that Sona's heal was nerfed and half-changed to a shield, instead of just a straight heal.

Finally the fact that Riot can implement whatever they want doesn't mean they have the good ideas about what to implement. Controlling the code of the game is really different from designing the game. And it's also Rioters, not only board members, that said that (resource) heals are not a good idea.

come on, we are in the age of AOE invulnerability Bard Kindred Taric We can't make this work, even as an ultimate?

With the power-budget of an ultimate, maybe, but I think that would be under-whelming... Just my opinion, though.

But AoE invulnerability has nothing to do with that. Invulnerability is essentially a mega-shield with infinite value, and shields are a mechanism well understood and without major issues today. One of the main problems of healing is that it is un-interactive. Invulnerability doesn't have that.

Soraka used to be able to restore mana to herself or allies. Then she could only do it to allies, then they removed it.

When she could do it to herself, her solo lane power was absolutely stupid, she was impossible to kill.

Even when it only worked on allies, it wasn't a particularly fun mechanic and really gave her lane an unreasonable amount of sustain. The only thing that really kept it under control back then was that it was also tied to her only useful offensive ability (on allies it restored mana but on enemies it dealt some damage and silenced).
